Once a small invite-only event, the Leeds Sports Awards is a celebration of all things sport, recognising the achievements of athletes, coaches, teams and individuals from across the city. This year’s 20th anniversary event takes place at the Royal Armouries’ New Dock Hall, hosted by ex-Leeds Rhinos forward Jamie Jones-Buchanan MBE and BBC sports journalist Tanya Arnold.
With 16 awards across three categories, as well as the esteemed Sporting Pride of Leeds Award, it’s set to be an awe-inspiring evening. There have been a record level of nominations this year, with 51 finalists shortlisted for awards. From World Champion triathletes to gold-grabbing Olympians, it’s a line-up packed with sporting stars, as well as those all-important unsung heroes.

Plus, wheelchair basketball player Fin Tonner is up for Disability Sportsman, with wheelchair sprinter Hannah Cockroft OBE in the women’s category.
This year, a new award, the Inclusivity Champion, has been introduced to shine a light on those leading the way for diversity. The evening will culminate with the announcement of the Sporting Pride of Leeds Award, with the winner revealed on the night. Previous recipients of this special honour include Josh Warrington, Kevin Sinfield OBE and last year’s winner Rob Burrow MBE.
