The Best Student Nights in Leeds

· Katie Wells · Students

When the nightlife’s this good, who cares about deadlines?

The Key Club

With cheap drinks, confetti canons and booming music until the early hours, these parties are truly a rite of passage.

A tropical-themed 80s wonderland, a Mad Hatter’s tea party-turned-rave and a bingo night that’s also a UV rave – when it comes to student nights, Leeds knows how to throw a party. Whether you’re a fresher on the hunt for the best club in the city or a third-year looking for a new place to cut some shapes with your mates, cheap drinks and good times are guaranteed at these unmissable events.

Mixtape Project at The Hifi Club

Mixtape Project

On Tuesdays, you can dance the night away to one of the best soundtracks in town at Mixtape Project. Their ‘can’t be categorised’ music policy means you’ll hear Elvis one minute, Chaka Khan the next and Kendrick Lamar shortly after. It’s a wonderfully eclectic selection, so whatever your taste, they never disappoint. There are loads of drinks offers to make the most of, so before you hit the dance floor stop at the bar for £3 Red Stripes and £2.50 tequilas. This is a popular night, so it might get quite cosy.

The Hifi Club, 2 Central Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6DE.

Mischief at The Warehouse

Mischief The Warehouse Halloween

If your idea of a great student night in Leeds is wacky costumes, confetti canons and cheap-as-chips VKs, you need to head to Mischief on a Wednesday. They regularly host themed nights like Tight and Bright or Wavy Shirt Wednesday, so don your most fantastically ridiculous outfits and dance the night away. The venue is spread across two floors and mischief is highly encouraged, so you can get up to no good as you cut shapes to chart-toppers and throwbacks on the first floor or groove to R&B jams upstairs.

The Warehouse, 19-21 Somers Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 2RG.

Fruity at Leeds University Union

Fruity is the place to be on Fridays. One of the longest running student nights in the city, the atmosphere is always fun and friendly – this is the type of night out where if you don’t bump into an old friend, you’ll probably make a new one. There are three rooms of music across Leeds University Union, so there’s something for everyone, whether you’re an R&B fan or a singalong pop fiend. Weekly drinks deals mean it’s irresistibly cheap – shots and vodka mixers are just £2. Cheers to that!
