When the nightlife’s this good, who cares about deadlines?

Element Club Mission

With cheap drinks, confetti canons and booming music until the early hours, these parties are truly a rite of passage.

A tropical-themed 80s wonderland, a musical mash-up with free donuts and a bingo night that’s also a UV rave – when it comes to student nights, Leeds knows how to throw a party. Whether you’re a fresher on the hunt for the best club in the city or a third-year looking for a new place to cut some shapes with your mates, cheap drinks and good times are guaranteed at these unmissable events.

Mixtape Project at The Hifi Club

Mixtape Project

On Tuesdays, you can dance the night away to one of the best soundtracks in town at Mixtape Project. Their ‘can’t be categorised’ music policy means you’ll hear Elvis one minute, Chaka Khan the next and Kendrick Lamar shortly after. It’s a wonderfully eclectic selection, so whatever your taste, they never disappoint. There are loads of drinks offers to make the most of, so before you hit the dance floor stop at the bar for £3 Red Stripes and £2.50 tequilas. This is a popular night, so it might get quite cosy.

The Hifi Club, 2 Central Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6DE.

Go Nuts at Donuts at The Wardrobe

Go Nuts at Donuts

Thursday nights can only mean one thing – it’s time to Go Nuts at Donuts. The event has recently moved into The Wardrobe, so it’s bigger and better than ever. You’ll need to bring your best dancing shoes – the DJ’s are mash-up wizards, so you’ll hear all your favourite tunes like you’ve never before. When you’re in need of a drink, the £2.50 Jäger shots are pretty irresistible. But above all else, this club night has a special place in student’s hearts for one reason – free donuts.

The Wardrobe, St. Peter’s Square, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS9 8AG.

Mischief at The Warehouse

If your idea of a great student night in Leeds is wacky costumes, confetti canons and cheap-as-chips VKs, you need to head to Mischief on a Wednesday. They regularly host themed nights like Tight and Bright or Wavy Shirt Wednesday, so don your most fantastically ridiculous outfits and dance the night away. The venue is spread across two floors and mischief is highly encouraged, so you can get up to no good as you cut shapes to chart-toppers and throwbacks on the first floor or groove to R&B jams upstairs.

The Warehouse, 19-21 Somers Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 2RG.

Every Thursday night, Leeds University Union becomes a tropical 80s paradise – think flamingos, gigantic deck chairs and pink neon lights. So if you’ve got a serious case of disco fever, this is the student night out for you. Hit the dance floor and you’ll soon find yourself grooving along to the likes of Chic, the Bee Gees, and of course, Wham! Drinks aren’t quite free at this Club Tropicana, but they have one-off offers that change on a weekly basis.

If you love dance music, Element is the place to go on a Thursday night in Leeds. They play the latest and greatest house, techno and grime tracks through their cutting edge sound system. Mission is built under three disused railway arches, so it’s got a suitably cool industrial, underground feel. Student night means student prices, so drinks are extremely cheap. £6 for three tequilas? Yes please.

Club Mission, 8 Heaton’s Court, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 4LJ.

Fruity at Leeds University Union

Fruity is the place to be on Fridays. One of the longest running student nights in the city, the atmosphere is always fun and friendly – this is the type of night out where if you don’t bump into an old friend, you’ll probably make a new one. There are three rooms of music across Leeds University Union, so there’s something for everyone, whether you’re an R&B fan or a singalong pop fiend. Weekly drinks deals mean it’s irresistibly cheap – shots and vodka mixers are just £2. Cheers to that!

You can step back in time on Wednesdays at The HiFi Club. MoveOnUp is a chilled out 60s soul jam where DJs spin a blend of Motown and Atlantic Soul. You can get your groove on to Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding and The Supremes. This is a laid-back student night but one that oozes cool. When you need to take a break from the dance floor, head to the bar for a £2 Kronenbourg, then kick back on the sleek leather sofas that line the walls.

Calling all rock fans – this is the student night in Leeds for you. On Fridays, the DJs at Fuel blast out all your favourite tunes. In Room 1, you can get down to the likes of Fall Out Boy, Paramore and Arctic Monkeys. But if you like it heavier, metal titans Avenged Sevenfold, Iron Maiden and Metallica can be heard in Room 2. It’s two for £6 on cocktails all night, so make yours a Raining Blood – a mix of blood orange and vodka. Feeling competitive? Challenge your mates to a game of beer pong for just £2 each.

Fuel, 66 Merrion Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 8LW.

Good Life at Beaver Works

It’s all about immersive experiences at Good Life. With live performers, an intricately themed decor and epic music, it’ll transport you to a whole new world. In the past, they’ve transformed the venue into a topsy-turvy Mad Hatter’s mansion with boundary-pushing techno DJs headlining. Good Life only happens once or twice a term and tickets are snapped up fast, so keep your eyes peeled.

Beaver Works, 36 Whitehouse Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS10 1AD.

You’ll only need £1 to get in before 12pm and drinks are just as cheap – VKs, vodkas and Jung-bombs (fake Jäger) are all £1. Pryzm is a huge club, so you have plenty of space to cut some shapes to their playlist of pop and dance anthems. You’ll be treated to special guest DJs throughout the year, so you can see everyone from Dick and Dom to Basshunter spin the hits.

Bongo’s Bingo at O2 Academy Leeds

Bongo's Bingo

It’s not officially a Leeds student night, but Bongo’s Bingo couldn’t be left off this list. Clubbing and bingo rolled into one spectacular event, this is an utterly bonkers night of fun. It might kick off as a normal game, but it doesn’t end that way. You’ll belt out High School Musical classics, wave glow sticks or take part in epic dance battles as you try to get a full house. There are crazy prizes to win, so you could be going home with a gigantic toy unicorn or even £500 cash.
