Lambert's Yard

Check out these five brilliant independent shops you might not have visited before.

Leeds has built up quite a reputation for its amazing shopping scene, and you may think you’ve seen just about everything. But, there are still some cracking stores that will have flown underneath your radar. These five underrated gems are helping to bring a little variety to the city’s high street.

ID Aromatics

ID Aromatics

It may be on one of the city’s most well-trodden streets, but chances are you’ve never been to ID Aromatics. This little indie shop specialises in essential oils, with everything you need all under one roof, including expert advice on everything from aromatherapy to soaps, creams and cosmetic bases. They make their own products, and you can even request specific creams, oils and lotions if you like.

Aladdin’s Cave

Aladdin's Cave jewellery

You may not have heard of it, but Aladdin’s Cave is one of the most interesting jewellery stores in Leeds. It has been a mainstay for over 25 years now, and the name is certainly apt. The shop is a treasure trove of one off finds, whether you’re looking for special period pieces, or something more specific like gold, diamonds and precious gems. Expect nothing you’ll see in your usual high street store.

Lambert’s Yard

Lambert's Yard

There’s no other store like Lambert’s Yard in Leeds, but it’s not the easiest one to find. Tucked away above Lower Briggate, it’s a haven of fashion and design. They work with the finest emerging brands and designers, so you can see clothes from the likes of Kings of Indigo, Bethnals, Violet & Wren, with selections for both men and women. Pair that with their range of homeware, grooming and gifts and you have a shop you’ll want to spend an age in.
