Whether you’re a beginner, an athlete or an old hand coming back into the game, this is where you can play netball in Leeds.

Netball is a fantastic sport that’s great for your health, your social life and your confidence, but when it comes to joining a league or learning how to play, most of us wouldn’t even know where to start. And that’s where we come in, because we’ve rounded up the best netball clubs in Leeds. From competitive leagues to training academies and even walking netball sessions, there’s something for everyone here.

Walking Netball with England Netball

Recovering from an injury? Need something a little easier on the joints? Why not try walking netball? The rules are the same, you just walk instead of running. England Netball has set up these classes all over the UK to help you get back into the sport, whatever your abilities, and you can find one right here in Leeds. They take place at Pudsey and Morley Leisure Centre.

Matches take place across the week at Pudsey Leisure Centre, Kirkstall Leisure Centre, Rothwell Leisure Centre, Kippax Leisure Centre and Aireborough Leisure Centre. Each session starts from £3.50 per person.

Back to Netball is a one-hour class that will teach you the basics before you play a game. It’s a chance to hone your passing and shooting skills while keeping an eye on your footwork. They have two netball clubs in Leeds, one at Morley Leisure Centre and one at Carr Manor High School near Chapel Allerton. Both have a laid-back atmosphere that will help you get your confidence back.

Classes take place across the week at Carr Manor High School and Morley Leisure Centre. Each session starts from £3 per person.

Play Netball Leeds

Play Netball Leeds is a laid back league that lets you embrace your competitive side. Their netball seasons are 10 to 14 weeks long and games take place once a week at Middleton Leisure Centre. To sign up, just email them, either as a team or an individual, and they’ll add you into the league or match you up with other players to form a squad.

Matches take place on Tuesdays between 7pm and 9pm. Match fees are £32 per team, per game.

Leeds Rhinos Netball

Leeds Rhinos Netball runs a training programme designed to help young netball players compete at a national level. Their academy is the most prestigious in Leeds, so this is for serious players only and you’ll need to complete a trial before you begin your training. There are plenty of other ways to get involved, as they run hubs and workshops throughout the year. They run the academy from a range of venues, so everyone can get involved.

Sessions take place throughout the week, with hubs and workshops throughout the year. Prices start from £7 per person but vary depending on the programme chosen.

Powerplay Netball

Powerplay Netball organises netball leagues across the the UK and two of them are right here in Leeds. You can play competitive yet sociable netball matches at Benton Park and Garforth College, each with umpires on hand. If you join as an individual, you’ll be added to their pool and put into contact with other players. Their 40-minute matches take place in the evening and you can keep on top of game fixtures with their mobile app.

Matches take place from Monday to Tuesday between 6pm and 10pm. Match fees are £32 per team, per game.

Netball Nights Leeds


Netball Nights has seven different leagues across Leeds and they provide the umpires and equipment for every match. Their season lasts five to six months with matches every week. And because they’re based in seven different locations, you’re sure to find one near you. If you join a larger league, you’ll be split into a division to match your ability, so you’ll all be on the same page.

Matches take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 7pm and 10pm. Match fees are £35 per team, per game.

Leeds YMCA with GO Mammoth

Leeds YMCA run a fun and easygoing netball league. They provide all the equipment and there’s even an umpire to oversee each match. You can play weekly games at their Otley Road venue and each season lasts 8 to 12 weeks. Sign up as an individual, a small group or as a full squad of 10 – and if you win the league, you’ll walk away with a prize.

Matches take place on Mondays between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. Each session is £6.70 per person or £4.40 per person as a team.
