Le Keux Vintage Salon Leeds

There’s a new salon in town, and they specialise in all things vintage…

Leeds has seen a number of new additions of late, but none quite like Le Keux. The new salon has opened up on Lands Lane, above Cath Kidston, but this is no run of the mill hairdressers, oh no, because Le Keux specialise in all things vintage, offering everything from makeovers to afternoon tea, burlesque classes and pin-up photo shoots.

The Leeds vintage scene is particularly good, with a multitude of stores offering clothes, shoes and accessories from days gone by, and Le Keux complements that offering perfectly. As far as we’re concerned, they couldn’t have picked a better location for their new branch, and Diablo Rose, Le Keux’s Creative Director and Salon Manager, told us that it came by popular demand.

“The company has been going for 7 years now; we started as a mobile event service, traveling with vintage fairs across the country and going to people’s homes and venues before we opened our Birmingham salon, which has been incredibly popular.” She told us, “Due to the demand in the North where we often did mobile work, we decided to launch a new branch in Leeds which our customers have been really excited about!”

It’s fair to say that Le Keux are unlike any other salon in Leeds. Each and every member of staff has been trained by Diablo Rose or fellow director, Lynsey Le Keux – so they can voucher for the quality, and indeed, the uniqueness of their offering.

And if you can’t get into their beautifully decorated salon, they’re happy to come to you, as Rose explained, “We have teams who are able to cover bookings nationwide, as well as our two vintage salons decorated as 1950s beauty parlours and American diners.” It’s the ideal set up, especially if you’re planning a hen party, which is something they’ve got a lot of experience in.

As you can imagine, their activities are hugely popular for brides to be. From vintage up dos, makeovers and manicures to cocktail masterclasses, fascinator workshops and photoshoots, there’s something to suit every hen. In fact, you’re so spoilt for choice, you might find it hard to decide what to do, but fear not, because we questioned Rose to find out what their hens love the most. She told us, “Our vintage hair and make up is the number one activity: it’s a lovely way to spend the day with your friends and family whilst you all get dolled up in our beautifully decorated vintage salons!”

And if that sounds a little too tame, perhaps a pin up photo shoot would be more your thing? You get the full kit and kaboodle, with hair, make-up and access to what can only be described as a luxury dress-up box. Rose painted a picture for us, “We provide full hair, makeup and wardrobe in the era of your choice, several beautifully decorated sets and 2 edited images within the package, so you have a great pampering experience with images to remember the day by. Our wardrobe has everything from lingerie to day wear so you can choose what look you want to go for and become your own pin up for the day!”

Sounds expensive, doesn’t it? But actually, their hair and make-up services start at just £18 and you could bag a vintage hen do event from £30 a person, depending what you want, of course.

Oh, and Le Keux isn’t just for the girls. They have what Rose described as a ‘man cave’ in their Leeds salon, especially for the guys. Services include poker lessons, DJ masterclasses and whiskey tastings – but that’s not their most popular service, according to Rose.

“Our cut throat wet shaves are becoming more popular every week; you get an incredibly close shave and your skin is protected in the process, it’s the classic old school way of shaving and still the best today, once you’ve experience a proper shave from our Cut Throat Kittys you won’t want it any other way!”

As you can tell, we’re pretty excited. We’re used to seeing new places open up in Leeds, but this is one of the most unique so far, and we’re keen to experience it first hand. If you are too, here’s what you need to know. From Wednesday to Saturday, you can make an appointment, or just drop in, but if you want to visit between Sunday and Tuesday, you’ll need to book it in advance. And remember, they’ll come to you, if you’re planning a party at home.
