St Gemma's Hospice Vintage Fair

Give something back as St Gemma’s Vintage Fair offers you the chance to find gorgeous clothing from days gone by this March.

Over the years, the building that houses St Gemma’s Hospice has taken on many forms – a wine merchant’s home, a place of worship, a convent and a school under the Sisters of the Cross & Passion. It wasn’t until the 1970s, that the hospice was launched by the Sisters in 1977, but since then, they’ve helped thousands of people with the aid of donations and events like St Gemma’s Hopsice Vintage Fair.

The Leeds hospice is Yorkshire’s largest and one of the biggest in the country. Their staff work hard to provide care and comfort for people battling cancer and other terminal illnesses. They don’t just stop at easing symptoms either – they help with spiritual and emotional needs, offering support to their families too. Why not give them a hand, shopping for a good cause this March?

St Gemma's Hospice Vintage Fair

It’s time to clear out some precious space in your wardrobe as St Gemma’s Hospice Vintage Fair promises a room full of vintage treasures for two whole days. With 22 charity shops located around the city, you can bet they’ve amassed quite the collection of retro gems over the past six months like artwork, costume jewellery, vintage clothing and collectables ranging from the twenties to eighties.

St Gemma’s Hospice has invited vendors from all over the country to sell their wares. So, whether you’ve got your eye on vintage crockery or a pre-loved dress, your hard earned cash will go a long way. Even better, a £10 purchase could give a patient a three-course meal, £30 could offer someone telephone support and £50 could fund a group bereavement session for an orphaned child.

Retro goods aren’t all you’ll find at St Gemma’s Hospice Vintage Fair. While you shop, you’ll be treated to traditional jazz and swing from The After Hours Rauchestra on Saturday 7th March 2015 and lovely vocals from 15 year old Bethany Hare on Sunday. Get a vintage makeover, then keep those eyes peeled for antiques because BBC Leeds auctioneer Gary Don will be valuing treasures.

St Gemma’s Hospice Vintage Fair is at St Gemma’s Hospice in Moortown from Saturday 7th March to Sunday 8th March 2015 from 10am to 3pm.
