RYDE L1 Peformance

Whether you’re looking for a post-work calorie blast or a Saturday morning workout, these are the spin classes to go to in Leeds.

From working out in a club-like atmosphere to riding the bikes used by Olympic champions, these three spin classes in Leeds are head and shoulders above the rest. They all have their own quirks and they’ll all help you burn a shedload of calories, so whether you’re a beginner or pro, why not give them a go?

Spinferno at Firehouse Fitness

Designed by ex-firemen, Spinferno is a fat-blitzing class that’s part spin, part HIIT. It combines bike sprints and hill climbs with sled pushes and kettle bell squats to push you to the limit in true fireman-style. The instructors will work you hard and help you burn 500 to 1,000 calories, so you’ll see the results fast – expect your strength and cardiovascular fitness to go through the roof. Spinferno and all other classes come free with monthly membership at Firehouse Fitness for £34.99 a month.

Firehouse Fitness, Centaur House, 91 Great George Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 3LA. Classes are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Group Cycle at Virgin Active Health

Want to train on the bikes used by Olympic champions? Head to Virgin Active Health and Spa. They’ve kitted out their studio with Wattbikes, which measure forty different areas of your cycling, from your power to your peddling technique. The class is led by an instructor and you’ll face their wrap-around screens with visuals of world-famous cycling routes. Their group cycle classes are available free with membership, which costs £48 per month.

Virgin Active Health and Spa, Cardigan Fields, Kirkstall Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS4 2DG. Classes available throughout the day from Monday to Friday and on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

RYDE at L1 Performance

RYDE L1 Peformance

By turning the lights down and the music up, RYDE creates a club style environment unlike any spin class you’ve tried before. Their instructors change the routine every week, but expect a full body workout with light weights to tone your upper body. You’ll have full control over the resistance, so you choose how hard to work, and you can do it all to a soundtrack of upbeat house music. Membership at L1 Performance will set you back £55 a month, but it’ll also give you access to their huge range of facilities.

L1 Performance, 6 Wellington Place, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 4AP. Classes are available throughout the day from Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings.
