It’s based on easy-to-follow steps, so whether you’ve got natural rhythm or two left feet, you’ll still have a blast. There are plenty of different Zumba classes across Leeds, so what are you waiting for? Start shaking those hips and get fit while you do it.

W Fitness hold feel-good, ladies-only Zumba classes in their boutique Leeds gym. You’re encouraged to let loose and have fun during these snappy 30-minute sessions as you burn off up to 300 calories. Led by a qualified instructor, you’ll salsa, samba and merengue march to a hip-shaking playlist of Latin American tunes and British chart-toppers. All are welcome and the class has a friendly, non-judgemental atmosphere. In fact, there are even no mirrors in the studio so you can just focus on your workout.

Zumba at JD Gyms


Zumba is one of the most popular fitness classes at JD Gyms and if you head to their Kirkstall Road location, you’ll soon see why. It’s an upbeat, energetic dance workout that brings together elements of salsa, samba, belly-dancing, hip-hop and even martial arts. The class is specifically designed to tone up your legs and abs, so expect plenty of hip-rolling and foot-stomping steps. The pace of the 45-minute session follows the rhythm of the music as you move through a mix of low and high-intensity bursts.

She was the first qualified Zumba instructor in North Leeds and with over 10 years of experience, her classes are some of the most exhilarating in the city. Throughout the hour, you’ll shake, shimmy, stomp and samba to a non-stop playlist of Latin American beats. She offers tailored classes to different ages and each one will help blitz fat and burn calories. If you want to go all-out, you can follow your class with Insanity, a crazy conditioning workout that’s jammed with cardio drills to complement your Zumba workout perfectly.

Total Dance UK classes take place in studios across North Leeds on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Classes start at £6.00, weekly passes are available for £15.

The lights are turned down low and the music is cranked up high, so the state-of-the-art Leeds studio feels just like a club. In fact, as you go wild to a playlist of Afrobeat and Latin tunes, you might just forget you’re exercising. But you’ll still sweat buckets as the blend of Caribbean Island rhythms, reggaeton moves and samba steps create an invigorating one-hour workout that’ll get your cardiovascular system pumping.

Tola Ajagbonna runs the vibrant sessions and she’ll get you moving to flamenco, bachata and other Latin rhythms. She also ensures that her classes cater for all levels and abilities, so you’re welcome whether you’re a newbie or a Zumba veteran. If you’re older and would like a gentler pace, she also runs a Zumba Gold class with all-levels dancing and medium intensity. Those who’d prefer something with even less intensity can sign up for AquaZumba, perfect for muscle toning and low impact.
