This new wellness hub comes from OneMedicalGroup. They’re a Leeds-based NHS GP and urgent care provider, but that’s not all they do. They also have a wellness centre in Harrogate where the focus is on prevention rather than cure. As Yorkshire’s first GP-led health and wellbeing coaching service, OneWellness has a fully accessible gym, complete with personal training, physiotherapy and a range of speciality fitness classes.
When lockdown moved us all indoors, they knew they’d have to find a new way to help us from home. So that’s precisely what they did. The OneWellness Hub is a welcoming space for everyone that offers a sense of community, wherever you are. In a matter of clicks, you can access a range of health-conscious resources, interactive classes and expert advice from their in-house team, all designed to support you through this time. You don’t have to be a member, it’s open to everyone and absolutely free.
What can you expect? Fitness classes were a huge part of life at OneWellness, so it should come as no surprise their new hub will encourage you to dust off your gym gear and get active. You can do an online exercise class live from your living room with personal trainer, Megan Brooks, or work up a sweat with a full library of free workout videos to browse at your leisure. Whether it’s yoga, strength conditioning, high-intensity interval training or a slice of meditative calm, there’s something for all abilities.
It’s not just about exercise though. The emotional impact from the COVID-19 pandemic is just as important as the physical, which is why the OneWellness Hub also serves as a dedicated space for reliable, high-quality advice on all manner of topics. Their blog, written by their very own doctors, navigates subjects like how to keep boredom at bay during lockdown, improving your sleep quality and maintaining healthy eating habits.
Speaking of healthy eating, they’ve got dinnertime covered too. Fancy making your own sourdough starter? Got a cupboard full of tinned goods and no idea what to whip up with them? Their GPs have a few snack-tactic secrets up their sleeves and they’re willing to share them to give you a welcome dose of kitchen inspiration.
