The city’s streets are evolving yet again with the addition of these fantastic new venues.
They say variety is the spice of life and these new businesses set to open up shop in Leeds are adding that bit more flavour to the city. Whether you’re a foodie, art enthusiast or simply in search of your new favourite pizza place, there’s something for everyone amongst these new businesses opening in Leeds. Which are you looking forward to the most?
Salts
Catering giant Salts, which began as a small team in Leeds in 2001, is now one of Yorkshire’s most trusted food vendors. They’re celebrating almost 25 years in business with their biggest expansion yet as they open up a brand new unit on Wellington Road and add an extra van to their jiffy service.
This expansion will help further them in their mission of bringing people together through food. They’ve already been providing fresh, locally-sourced food to businesses and individuals across the region for years, catering for corporate events and weddings while also stocking the shelves of local fresh food retailers. Now they’ll be able to serve even more delicious food, and their popular specialty sausage rolls will be more accessible to the lunchtime crowd with their fourth jiffy van.
Salts will open next to Harley Davidson on New Wellington Road in October 2025.
German Doner Kebab
German Doner Kebab’s 150th UK restaurant will be opening right here in Leeds city centre. In the few years since they first hit these shores, they’ve quickly become one of the country’s fastest-growing food chains and their “Doners worthy of daylight” have been endorsed by the likes of rapper Ms. Banks and content creator Harry Pinero.
Their new site on Boar Lane will be perfectly placed to cater to the lunchtime rush for both students and professionals and they’ll even get to catch hungry revellers on their way home from a big Leeds night out. After all, who doesn’t love a kebab when they’re a little bit tipsy?

Another one for the foodies, one of the city’s favourite sushi chefs is opening a brand new restaurant right here in Leeds. The mind behind Fern Sushi is opening their new concept, Tori Nori, just a few doors down from their original Fern venue.
Tori Nori literally means ‘chicken, seaweed’ in Japanese – a nod to what you can expect from the menu. This restaurant will be Chef Fern’s take on a modern Japanese Grill, with lots of “drama” promised by the chef herself. Before the restaurant opens she’ll be brushing up on her hibachi skills and training with a sensei to keep things top quality at Tori Nori. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with.
Tori Nori will open in Leeds city centre in November.
Art and Soul

Calling all artisans, art-enthusiasts and makers of Leeds, there’s a new store coming to town that’s just for you. Following the success of their award-winning Hull and Beverley stores, Art and Soul are coming to Leeds to serve the city with niche nik naks and handcrafted creations.
They stock handmade gifts and art and are currently taking applications from local creators to help fill their shelves. As well as the retail space which will be full of wondrous indie wares, they’ll serve the community with workshops and events, allowing non-professionals to unleash their creative side. It seems this latest addition to Leeds’ thriving indie artisan scene is coming in with a bang.
Art and Soul will open in Queens Arcade in November.
Knottinger
One of the most innovative craftwork concepts to come out of Leeds in recent years, Knottinger is finally getting their own brick and mortar store. Like the name suggests, their textile jewellery and home accessories brand makes cool designs inspired by different types of knots. They launched in the pandemic originally selling the handmade gems on Etsy before upscaling as they grew more popular.
They’ve since landed stockists all over the country, won awards and delivered some huge commercial partnerships including one with Meta and Claridge’s Hotel. Their flagship store will be in Horsforth, a neighbourhood already teeming with brilliant independent shops. As well as jewellery and homeware they’ll also be stocking gifts, lifestyle goods and design-led objects made by fellow artisans with an eye for sustainability.
Knottinger will open on New Road Side in Horsforth on October 18th.

If your sweet tooth is anything like ours, you’ll be delighted to know that Leeds’ best brownie delivery service is finally getting a city centre home. After starting during the COVID lockdown, The Savvy Baker has built a near cult following thanks to their moreish treats and stunning signature brownies and blondies.
As well as delivering deliciousness to doorsteps across the region, they can be spotted at food festivals and pop-up events all over the country and they already have two cafés in York and Chesterfield. In fact, their first café was in Roundhay before it closed earlier this year. Clearly, they couldn’t bear not having a physical presence in Leeds for long, as they have a brand new venue opening in The Trinity very soon. We can’t wait to end our shopping trips with a well-earned sweet treat.
The Savvy Baker will open on Albion Street in Leeds Trinity in the coming months.

Kim Kardashian’s world domination continues and it looks like Leeds is next on the list. Banners have gone up in the windows of the Flannels store on Briggate announcing the arrival of SKIMS and people seem to be very excited about it.
The athleisure brand was launched by Kim Kardashian back in 2018 as a modern answer to Spanx. SKIMS are said to provide ‘figure-enhancing support’ and have taken the world by storm. From bodysuits and bras to cycle shorts and leggings, SKIMS has it all and we’ll be able to take a look first-hand once they land in Leeds.

One for the pizza lovers to look forward to, Dough Club pizza is bringing Leeds into the fold. The Detroit style pizza specialists are making waves all over the Pennines, with popular restaurants in Manchester and Stockport. Soon, Leeds will get a chance to dig into the Dough Club signature rectangular pies as they’ve recently applied for planning permissions for a site on Burley Road.
Unlike most pizzas out there, a Detroit style slice is all about the rise, and no one takes that more seriously than Dough Club. They ensure each of their Pizza bases is crunchy at the edge and fluffy in the middle, the perfect canvas for their toppings. Whether you’re into a traditional Marg or you like to experiment with a pineapple or two, there’ll be something on the Dough Club menu for you and hopefully you won’t have to wait too long to try it.
Dough Club applied for planning permission on 80 Burley Road, Leeds.
