Land this prize and you’ll get to visit Stump Cross Caverns for a packed day of family fun. Get ready to navigate twisting passageways and uncover incredible rock formations as you learn all about the cave’s fascinating 300-million-year history. Yep, these caves predate the dinos, that’s how old we’re talking.
You’ll head underground again for a second cave adventure, exploring the passageways from a whole new perspective. With a UV torch in hand, you’ll reveal glowing minerals and luminous formations, uncovering stunning details that can’t be seen with the naked eye. Think of it as your very own underground glow party!
Discover the mysteries of the universe
The second part of your prize sees you embark on a journey through the stars as you take part in the Cosmic Adventures Workshop. Taking place on weekends and every day during the February half-term, these one-hour sessions combine education and creativity to unveil fascinating stories about space and constellations.
You’ll learn awe-inspiring facts about our solar system and find out how to spot constellations in the breathtaking skies above the Yorkshire Dales. With plenty of hands-on activities like clay planet crafting to get involved with, your little explorers will learn with a new-found appreciation for the universe – disclaimer, don’t blame us if they put a telescope on their Christmas list.
Crack open gemstones and pick up treats to take home
Next up, it’s geode cracking. Pay a visit to Geode James’ Geode Shack and you’ll get your hands on four large white quartz geodes, with the expert team cracking them open for you. What looks like a normal rock actually hides a miniature world of glittering crystals – and not only will you be the first person to see it, you’ll also get to take the crystals home with you to treasure forever.
The final part of your prize is a £50 voucher to spend during your visit. You can shop Stone Age souvenirs like fossils, as well as tote bags and hoodies in the gift shop or grab a cuppa and a bite to eat in the Time Cafe, the choice is yours. It’s definitely worth checking out the cafe – decorated with beautiful clocks, it’s the perfect place to reflect on your day.
