It might feel like everyone’s a runner these days – but if pounding the pavements solo isn’t your thing, you’re in luck. Leeds is home to a host of ultra-welcoming run clubs, perfect whether you’re training for your next race or just easing your way from couch to 5k (with a well-earned coffee or pint at the end).

Once the run’s done, it’s back to the bar to refuel, unwind and connect with your new running mates. Join the BOX Strava community to unlock 50% off food and drink, and you’ve got yourself a solid Wednesday evening.

For something a little more formal yet just as welcoming, Hyde Park Harriers is a well-established road running club that meets twice a week. There’s a group run at 7pm every Tuesday, with runners split into 12 pace groups, from beginners and returners through to those comfortably chasing sub-40 10ks.

Thursday sessions vary with the seasons. Expect drills, track intervals, strength work and stretching through the summer, before switching to intervals and hill work over winter – ideal if you’re looking to build fitness, speed and confidence.

Where? Tuesday sessions start at the concrete steps off Finsbury Road, near The Edge. Thursday sessions vary, with the info shared on Spond.
When? 7pm every Tuesday and 7pm or 7:30pm every Thursday.

Open to everyone – whether you live or work on the dock or you’re travelling in from further afield – it’s an easy way to build mileage without the monotony.

Mondays kick off with a steady 5k, while Wednesdays offer an 8 to 10k run, hill repeats, or intervals at your own pace. There’s also a Friday early bird session and a Sunday long-run, ideal if you’re prepping for a longer race or working on your endurance.

Where? Meet at the amphitheatre on Leeds Dock.
When? 6:15pm every Monday and Wednesday, 6:30am every Friday and 10am every Sunday.

Green Room Run Club

Green Room’s Run Club is all about starting your weekend on a high. Meeting every Saturday morning, this very relaxed 5k winds through some of Leeds’ most scenic routes, making it more of an easy, sociable run rather than a race against the clock.

Once you’re back, it’s straight to Green Room’s terrace for coffee, free pastries and soft drinks – a well-earned reward for showing up. There’s also a Whatsapp group to keep everyone in the loop on meet-ups and updates, so it’s easy to stay connected week to week.

Where? The run begins at Green Room, 36 Wellington Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 2DE.
When? 9:30am every Saturday.
