If you’re not ready to go home yet, don’t fret, because Leeds is full of bars that are open until late.

Luckily for us Leeds folk, early closing times don’t have to ruin a night out – it’s quite the opposite, actually. Whether you want to dance atop bars, sup cocktails in a sophisticated joint or choose from over 150 craft beers, look no further than these Leeds bars that are open until late. In fact, we’ve stayed up late and bleary eyed around Leeds city centre to round them all up for you. So, how many will you visit until you call it a day?

1am

Okay, it’s not that late – just one more drink and you can still get your eight hours of shut eye. Here’s where to head.

Below Stairs

Carefully curated cocktails, fine wines and craft beers, oh my! If you want to be treated like royalty for the night, a trip to Below Stairs is in order. This table service cocktail joint is a classy affair, with sprawling herringbone floors, dark oak finishings and metro touches to boot.

Their cocktails aim to replicate emotive or sensory stories, and The Clean Sheets does exactly that. The combination of discarded chardonnay vodka, Tonka, niche lavender & chamomile will evoke the comforting feeling of slipping into freshly washed bedding and unwinding after a long day.

Below Stairs, 12 South Parade, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 5QS. Open until 1am on Friday and Saturday.

Triple threat Tabula Rasa acts as an elevated café and an aperitivo, but most importantly, it’s one of Leeds’ best late night bars. Step inside and be greeted by velvet bar stools, Art Deco furnishings and rich green walls, where old school meets effortlessly cool.

Headed up by owner Filippos Filippopoulous, every night, the team of bartenders mobilise to create elevated concoctions – their Crime & Punishment is a masterpiece of mixology. A delight that’s smoked with applewood, it’s made with Laphroaig 10, honeycomb infused Cocchi Americano, Kings ginger liqueur and lemon bitters – it’s criminally good.

Tabula Rasa, 8 Eastgate, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 7JL. Open until 1am Friday and Saturday.

If you’re after sophistication, sophistication is what you’ll get at Roland’s. It’s the more grown-up sibling among its Call Lane neighbours, but it still stays up late on the weekends. It’s small, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a worthy contender – in the main bar, you’ll find leather booths and mid-century furnishings, but you can also head on up to the rooftop or outside to the courtyard.

It punches well above its weight with its drinks menu, with a generous wine list and the perfect gin selection for juniper lovers. Try the famed Guinness-infused Espresso Martini – it’s the perfect party fuel.

Roland’s, 39 Call Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 7BT. Open until 1am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

You’ll never be short of fun at Boom Battle Bar – and it’s a good job, because on Saturdays, they’re open until 1am. A real-life adult playground, activities range from American pool and axe throwing to augmented reality darts and crazy golf, so see how many you can tick off in one night.

It isn’t just all fun and games though, oh no – they’re serious about cocktails too. Whether it be a Strawberry Daiquiri or an Aperol Spritz, you’re sure to find a tipple to suit your taste. If you ask us, the Spiced Mango Margarita is the star of the menu, perfectly sweet and sour with a Tajin rim.

Boom Battle Bar, Ground Floor Level and First Floor Level, Victoria Leeds, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 7AR. Open until 1am on Saturdays.

2am

Alright, alright… you’re feeling jolly and want just one more. These Leeds bars will keep you going until 2am.

They have a whopping 16 signature cocktails for you to try, and you’ll be hard pressed to find something more delicious than the Raspberry Beret. A fruity affair, it combines Cîroc berry vodka, Mouse Kingdom dark berries liqueur, lemon juice, cranberry juice, apple juice, vanilla syrup and prosecco. If you want to stick to what you know, look no further than their classics menu.

Neighbourhood, 5 Greek Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 5SX. Open until 2am on Saturdays.

If you don’t want to run with rum, don’t fret, as they have plenty of other tipples that’ll do the job. The Long Island Iced Tea is a boozy concoction that will transport you to a tropical island, with vodka, Cointreau, rum, tequila, gin and Coca-Cola Zero.

Dimly lit and small, Wax Bar might not appear to be one of Leeds’ hottest late night bars, but trust us, it is. This is the place to be in the wee hours of the morning, with vinyl enthusiast DJs spinning the decks until close on most days of the week.

Their classic cocktail menu will take you from Margaritas to Mojitos, with an ever-changing seasonal list if you’re wanting to shake things up. If you’re a tequila fan, you’re in luck – they’re one of the only places in town to offer a verdita chaser (mint, coriander and chilli) to wash your shot down with.

Wax Bar, 20 New Briggate, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6NU. Open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.

4am

The night may soon be over, but you’re not calling it a day anytime soon. Good thing you’re spoilt for choice with these bars open until 4am.

Is there a better combination than tequila, Latin food and rock and roll? Well, Sandinista doesn’t seem to think so. A late night Leeds bar that knows how to have a good time, you’ll be welcomed into this cantina where you can’t see the wall for gig posters, and spirits upon spirits line the bar. No, seriously, they’re loco for liquor – think Havana 7 rum, Plymouth Dry gin, Don Julio Blanco tequila and more.

All the classic cocktails are available for supping, cold brewskis there for the taking, and their brain-freezing boozy slush puppies have far more than just juice in them.

Descend their famous stairs and dive straight into one of their rustic leather booths, before getting to grips with a menu full of heady concoctions.

Will it be a rum-tastic Zombie, a fruity Raspberry Marciano, or one of the only drinks from the Prohibition era that’s stood the test of time? The Boulevardier first appeared in 1927, composed of Rowans Creek bourbon, Campari and barrel-aged vermouth.

Jake’s Bar and Still Room, 29 Call Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 7BT. Open until 4am every day of the week.

The dazzling bar is sure to keep you awake, but the sheer selection of drinks will definitely make it hard to choose. A Mojo Old Fashioned is a great way to wrap up the night, with Mojo single barrel JD in a smoked glass, but if you’re looking for a caffeine hit, they offer Espresso Martinis three ways. Will it be classic, black forest or chocolate orange?

Mojo, 18 Merrion Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6PQ. Open until 5am on Fridays and Saturdays.
