It’s massive in Wetherby, now Kofi&Co has opened a second brunch-tastic cafe in the heart of Roundhay.

Kofi&Co isn’t brand new, not to folk who are familiar with Wetherby. But the success of their first home on Market Place has meant they’ve been able to open a second branch and this time, they’re bringing banging brunch dishes and proper coffee to Leeds from their fresh Roundhay home. The new cafe is the brainchild of owner Harrison Pinder, who opened the first cafe back in 2020 in the midst of lockdowns, and his brother, George.

But why Roundhay? Harrison explained, “the reason we’ve come to Roundhay is this is where we grew up. So I went to Roundhay High School, I lived in Roundhay for 26 years. This is just like, we know it like the back of our hand. All of our friends are here, so when it came about to get this unit, it was just a no brainer for us. And I knew if I brought Kofi&Co over here, then it will fly because you can’t get what we offer anywhere.”

Their new home is the former Roundhay Perk Cafe on Street Lane. They’ve spent the past few months putting their own stamp on it – expect comfy leather banquettes, rustic wooden tables and green statement walls. There’s one thing that Kofi&Co has that really sets them apart though – on the walls, you’ll find George’s own artwork, which he makes in his studio above their Wetherby cafe, while he’s also lent his design skills to everything from cups to menus.

And on that menu? It’s an all-day brunch affair that kicks off with a handful of breakfast classics. Bacon and sausage sarnies sit alongside porridge, the breakfeast burrito and the hash brown & cheese melt. Fancy eggs? You got ‘em. From eggs any way you like to Moroccan spiced and a trio of bennies – bacon, salmon or Florentine, Kofi&Co is an egg lover’s delight. Want something different? Keep an eye on their specials board for sweet treats.

And then there’s the Brunch Club dishes. You can never go wrong with smashed avocado, especially with poached eggs and halloumi, while other classics are accounted for, from American-style pancake stacks to the Kofi full English. Our favourites though are elsewhere – The Kofi Hash brings together crispy potatoes, smoked bacon, kale, spinach, red onion, poached eggs and pesto. Got a bigger appetite? The have their own take on a cheeseburger too.

Don’t know where to start? Let Harrison guide you with his top tips. “I’ll have to give you two. We have an egg section, so I’d have to go spiced eggs and halloumi. We’ve got we’ve got this kind of sweet and spicy sauce that our chef came up with, with halloumi and poached eggs on toast and it’s probably the biggest selling egg dish. Then also, the H Burger, which is our fried chicken, marinated for like two or three days in buttermilk and loads of spices.”

Love coffee? You’re in luck at Kofi&Co. They have their own special blend of beans freshly roasted for them by their friends at York Coffee Emporium. The House Blend brings together premium beans from Brazil, Honduras, Columbia and Vietnam for a chocolate and caramel-heavy finish that’s become a real favourite whether you’re sipping on an Americano, chugging back a latte or savouring a double espresso.

That’s not the only thirst-quencher they’ve got though. They have a series of special blends for a more luxurious treat, from their matcha tea latte with oat milk and vanilla to the Biscoff latte, served with a Biscoff crumb. Iced coffees are present and correct too – including the Biscoff one, our favourite – while a range of teas, Yorkshire Tea included, sate the leaf lovers. You can get smoothies too, like the blackberry and blueberry-led Berry Burst.

So there we have it! Kofi&Co has brought what’s made them such a popular pitstop in Wetherby to the heart of Roundhay. Banging brunch dishes to start your day right or to refuel you after a wander around the park, complete with their own coffee you can only find here. Coupled with the stylish design and Harrison and George’s own personal touches, Kofi&Co looks set to be the Roundhay go-to for daytime treats from here on in.

Kofi&Co, 71 Street Lane, Roundhay, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS8 1AP. It’s open from 8:30am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 4pm on Sundays.
