Grand Pacific Restaurant, The Queens

A vegan restaurant, a bakehouse and the much-anticipated return of a local legend – we’ve got the lowdown on seven new openings coming soon to Leeds.

Ready for another batch of new openings? We’ve got seven new additions to tell you about they’re are planning to open over the coming months. There’s a Detroit-style pizzeria, the return of one of Leeds’ most popular bars and two new burger joints, but that’s just the beginning, so take a look at what’s coming and decide which one you’ll visit first.

Meat Is Dead

The old dry cleaners on Kirkstall Road is being transformed into a new vegan bar, restaurant and arts venue. Meat Is Dead will open all-day, so you can enjoy their plant-based goodness at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Local craft beers will line the bar and cocktails will be whipped up in a frenzy. It’s a massive venue, and they’re going to put it to good use by hosting events.

Meat Is Dead will open on Kirkstall Road in May 2021.

Well Oiled

Well Oiled

Well Oiled do pizza a little differently. Theirs is served Detroit-style. The soft, deep-dish focaccia dough is fermented for 48 hours and drizzled with olive oil before being loaded with toppings. You can snaffle combos like the Full Spec, which piles fennel salami, Wisconsin brick cheese, whipped ricotta, hot pepper mash, honey and oregano onto their secret Detroit tomato sauce.

Well Oiled will open in Leeds in Summer 2021.


CORA Bakehouse, Boston Spa

After the success of Home and The Owl, Elizabeth Cottam is opening a third venue in Boston Spa. Cora is a bakehouse, dining room and wine cellar where you can enjoy a new kind of tasting experience. They’ve turned breakfast, lunch and tea into a culinary adventure, complete with custom drinks pairings, but you can also get picnic hampers to enjoy nearby on the waterfront.

Cora will open in Boston Spa in May 2021.

Yoh Burger

Yoh Burger opened their first venue in Rotherham in 2018. They now have five restaurants and they’re opening their sixth in Leeds. You can choose one of their ready-made combinations or build your own burger from their plethora of options. One or two patties? Brioche or charcoal bun? Grilled egg or turkey rasher? Your wish is their command, so go wild and live the dream.

Yoh Burger will open in Leeds in Summer 2021.



When Sandinista closed its doors in 2016, it was the end of an era, but now it’s reopening with the promise of more wild shenanigans. Back in the same venue as before, Sandinista 2.0 will be everything it always was – a late-night hideaway where craft beer and boozy cocktails drive you to the dance floor as their DJs playing the finest indie, rock, hip-hop and soul tunes.

Sandinista will reopen on Cross Belgrave Street in June 2021.

Grand Pacific

As part of its £16 million refurbishment, The Queens has revealed plans for a new 100-cover, Raffles-inspired restaurant and cocktail bar. The menu will offer an Asian twist on classic British dishes, like the Tiger Prawn Cocktail, Tempura Szechuan Sea Bass and Teriyaki Steak Sandwich. It will be complemented by Cafe Pacific, a more relaxed cafe bar with an all-day menu.

Grand Pacific will open at The Queens in Summer 2021.



Since opening in the Philippines in 1978, Jollibee has become one of the biggest fast-food brands in the world. They’re opening their fourth UK restaurant in Leeds this month, in the former McDonald’s on Briggate. They specialise in fried chicken with a South Asian twist. Try the crispy chicken burger, it’s piled high with pineapple, or go for their trademark sweet-style spaghetti.

Jollibee will open on Briggate on 10th May 2021.
