The city’s streets are due another transformation with the addition of these fantastic new venues.

They say variety is the spice of life and these new businesses set to open up shop in Leeds are adding that bit more flavour to the city. Whether you’re a foodie, fitness fanatic or simply in search of your new favourite coffee shop, there’s something for everyone amongst these new spaces opening in Leeds. Which are you looking forward to the most?

Federal Café and Bar

With humble beginnings as a small neighbourhood café in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Federal has fast become a premier brunch destination in the city. You’ll often see people queuing outside of their cafés, patiently anticipating their delicious dishes and sensational service. Now they’re set to open their first ever location outside of Manchester right here in Leeds.

The new Federal café will open on the ground floor of 34 Boar Lane, a recently refurbished workspace and cultural hub in the heart of the city centre. It’ll make a fantastic addition to lunchtime options for city workers and will also be ideal for enjoying slow weekend mornings over a tasty plate of food, made with carefully sourced ingredients from sustainable suppliers.

Federal Café and Bar will open at 34 Boar Lane in autumn 2025.

Straight Outta Nashville

Straight from the streets of Salford, Straight Outta Nashville is coming to shake up the smash burger scene in Leeds. Their mouth-watering burgers, loaded fries and fried chicken have been tempting foodies in the Manchester suburb since 2021. Now, they’re looking to expand and they’ve set their sights on Leeds.

We’re pretty excited about it too, ‘cause you can never have too many quality burgers in one city. With two beef patties, onions, gherkins and a crispy fried chicken fillet, the Jerry Heller burger has to be tasted to be believed and you can be one of the first in Leeds to try it.

Straight Outta Nashville will open on Dewsberry Road in autumn 2025.

House of Koko

Cracking coffee, delicious cakes and brunch that will keep you coming back for more – House of Koko have it all, and they’re bringing that tastiness to the city centre. This autumn, the Chapel Allerton brunch institution will be expanding out of the suburbs and opening their third venue.

Judging by the popularity of their existing two venues, the city centre House of Koko will probably be buzzing every weekend. With signature dishes like the Hot Honey Habibti, Levantine eggs and adaptable Koko Brekkie, it doesn’t take them long to turn new customers into regulars, and now, new customers and regulars alike will have one extra place to indulge in Koko goodness.

House of Koko will open on Central Road in autumn 2025.

Alo Yoga

If you love working out in style, you’ll be happy to learn that designer activewear brand ALO Yoga has confirmed plans to launch a new store in Leeds. They’ll be taking over a shopfront in Victoria Quarter, adding to the already fashionable array of high-end retailers in the arcade and marking the beginning of their UK expansion outside of London.

They specialise in sleek activewear and loungewear that’ll take you from studio to street without compromising on comfort. If the chic, airy interiors of their existing stores are anything to go by, the shopping experience will be just as aesthetically pleasing as the clothes!

Alo Yoga will open in Victoria Quarter in 2026.

Blank Street

Calling all coffee connoisseurs – the former home of Starbucks on Albion Street is set to be transformed into a Blank Street Coffee shop. Famous for its viral matcha concoctions and boutique brews, the New York coffee chain has fast become one of the most recognisable brands in the market.

Now they’re bringing their delicious drinks to Leeds, making us the sixth city in the UK to host a Blank Street café. The signage application has been approved but there’s no official opening date yet for the shop. What’s for sure is that when it does open, we’ll be amongst the first in line for an iced matcha.

Blank Street will open on Albion Street, date tbc.
