These five new developments in Leeds are reshaping the city’s skyline and redefining its future.
Leeds is evolving at an ever-rapid pace, so it can sometimes be hard to keep up with the new developments in the city. Luckily for you, we’ve rounded up five of the biggest ones, from a new industrial and logistics hub to a £100 million expansion for Leeds Bradford Airport. Check them out.
South Village gets the green light

It’s good news for Caddick Developments, as they’ve received unanimous approval from Leeds City Council for a brand new, mixed use neighbourhood in the South Bank of Leeds. Just off Meadow Lane, the 2 million square foot scheme was originally called City One, but has now been branded South Village.
But what does this mean for the area? Well, this major development will bring up to 1,925 homes and 650,00 square feet of commercial space, all set around a curated village green the size of a professional sports field.
A £100 million terminal expansion for Leeds Bradford

Leeds Bradford Airport’s terminal will be transformed as part of a £100 million development headed up by Farrans Construction. LBA:REGEN will see a 9,500 square metre, three-storey extension added to the existing terminal, as well as refurbishment of current facilities.
For passengers, this means additional aircraft stands, more seating, faster security and new shops and eateries. But it doesn’t stop there, as by 2030, the regeneration has the potential to create a whopping 1,500 new jobs at the airport.
Two new towers are set for Wellington Square

Following the submission of a planning application in February last year, developer McLaren Property has announced plans to deliver a 45-storey residential tower to Wellington Square.
The tower will contain 464 build to rent units, with apartments ranging from one to three bedrooms. Residents will also enjoy a concierge, fitness and wellbeing space and sky lounge on the 45th floor which will offer stunning panoramic views of the city.

The Tetley building had a rather tumultuous year, and it’s not set to slow down anytime soon as Vastint UK has submitted its planning application for its future. The proposals will guarantee not only the future of the 92-year-old building and its Art Deco features, but also accessibility so it can be used by all.
What’s more, the basement will be a speakeasy bar, while the ground floor features a market hall space and amenities. Not only do the plans add to the wider development of Aire Park, but it ensures this legendary building will have a place in Leeds’ ever-evolving landscape.
A new industrial and logistics hub

Harworth Group has obtained planning approval for a new industrial and logistics project at its Gascoigne Interchange site in Selby after North Yorkshire Council’s Strategic Planning Committee gave the go ahead.
The 185-acre site will be made up of 1.5 million square feet of Grade-A industrial and logistics space, and is set to add approximately £190 million in gross development value to the area. Construction is to start next year, when seven units will be built.
