Pint in hand, it’s time for the food. There are seven sides to go at, from parmesan truffle fries to southern fried chicken and crispy fried red shrimp. For us, though, it has to be the Tajin corn ribs – keeping with the Mexican theme, these moreish riblets will have you looking up the recipe immediately.

Tuesday can mean only one thing – tacos. Madre does them best, and you can get two for the price of one all day, every Tuesday.
There are seven flavour-packed fillings to choose from, including slow-cooked beef shin birria, pollo asado and pulled pork, so order a few different ones for the table and get stuck in. Whichever you go for, a margarita is the perfect accompaniment – especially if you like yours spicy. It’s an easy way to turn a quick post-work catch-up into a pocket-friendly dinner, without committing to a full night out.

Congratulations, you’ve made it to Hump Day. Gather your smartest colleagues and head to Mad Frans for one of Wellington Place’s most popular midweek traditions.
Taking place on the last Wednesday of each month, the Mad Frans quiz will put your general knowledge to the test as you battle it out for a £30 bar tab and a £50 donation to a charity of your choice. There’s a £20 bar tab for the runners-up too, so even second place comes with bragging rights. Grab some food, order a round and see if you’ve got what it takes to be crowned champion.

When Thursday rolls around, it’s time to slow the pace down. Veeno is one of the best places for after-work food and drink at Wellington Place, with a relaxed Italian approach that’s ready-made for the hours between work and home.
Veeno celebrate happy hour daily from Monday to Friday, and you can get two cocktails for £15 and selected beers for £5 from 4pm to 8pm. Work at Wellington Place? Order one of a selected range of bottles and you’ll get a complimentary Grande Platter piled with Italian meats, cheeses and antipasti to share. Whichever you go for, it’s significantly better than waiting around at the station.

By Friday, you’ve earned a proper end-of-week send-off. There are plenty of places to do just that, but visit Good Luck Club between 4pm and 8pm and you can roll the dice, with the chance to win free fries or even a free round of drinks. It adds a touch of jeopardy to your usual post-work pint – picture the scenes when you’ve bagged a free round.

You don’t need to work at Wellington Place to make the most of the hours between 5pm and 7pm. The neighbourhood is just a two-minute walk from Whitehall Riverside, five minutes from Park Square and around six to eight minutes from Holbeck Urban Village, Globe Point and Tower Works.
When you arrive, you’ll find landscaped gardens, wide pedestrianised avenues and plenty of outdoor seating – ideal for making the most of a sunny evening. It’s well-lit and monitored around the clock, so you can relax before making the short walk over to Leeds Station.
