In fact, with everything from cosy Nordic pop ups to bonkers games of bingo, you might just be spoilt for choice. Fear not though, because we’ve rounded up all the best places in one place to make your yuletide bash one to remember.

Looking for a seriously festive Christmas night out in Leeds? It doesn’t get much better than the Christkindelmarkt. It’s a traditional German Christmas Market, so expect Bavarian beer and warming mulled wine from the Ski Hutte, which you can pair with huge frankfurter sausages and sweet treats. Or if you fancy a sit down meal, you can feast on a slew of roast meats at the Alp Chalet. There’s plenty to keep you entertained too, with over 40 stalls to explore and fantastic live Oompah bands playing into the night.

Christkindelmarkt takes over Millennium Square from Friday 8th November to Saturday 21st December 2019.

Have a bonkers game of bingo

If you think bingo’s for old fogies, think again. Bongo’s Bingo has taken this classic game and injected it with a whole dose of crazy. This year, they’re putting on a Christmas special at O2 Academy Leeds, so as well as the usual UV raves, dance offs and wacky costumes, you’ll get to groove to festive tunes as you race to get a full house. Christmas might just come early for you as there’s loads of prizes up for grabs like gigantic stuffed unicorns, bottles of booze and cold hard cash.

Sup hot choc-tails in a Nordic tipi

For a more laid back evening, head to Thor’s Tipi. It’s a Nordic-inspired Christmas pop-up bar. Inside, it’s irresistibly cosy with fairy lights, soft furs and crackling log fires. Take a pew and kick back with one of their special festive tipples – you can enjoy everything from mulled cider to Baileys on ice. There’s even Hot Choc-tails, so why not try a Black Forest – a seriously indulgent hot chocolate mixed with cherry liquor? Go on and treat yourself, it’s Christmas after all.

Play a boozy game of crazy golf

Fancy a night of crazy golf and cocktails? Junkyard Golf is a hole in one. You’ll be playing mini golf here, but it’s not any ordinary game. There are three absolutely bonkers courses, complete with creepy carnivals, UV discos and glitter temples, which you can put your way through to a soundtrack of 90s pop. But that’s not all – there’s four bars serving an array of creative cocktails like the Hotline Ting, a heady mix of vodka, bubblegum liquor, cranberry and ting finished with popping candy and a party ring.

Hit the dance floor at a 70s disco

The Brutus Gold’s Love Train Xmas Disco Ball couldn’t be left off the list. It’s a 70s themed boogie wonderland, so if you’ve come down with disco fever over the winter, this is the Christmas night out for you. Fancy dress is highly encouraged, so don your best 70s gear and then hit the dance floor. You’ll be grooving to the likes of the Bee Gees, Abba and Sister Sledge as well as 70s Christmas hits. With crazy characters, hilarious skits and epic dance offs, this is a fantastically fun and festive event you just won’t want to miss.

Have Christmas in a tropical paradise

Why not escape the winter chill and take a trip to a tropical paradise this year? Tucked away above Call Lane Social you’ll find the Tiki Hideaway, a slice of Hawaii in Leeds. There’s Polynesian knick knacks on the walls and a bamboo beach hut bar with drinks served in coconuts. The cocktail menu is just as exotic as the decor, so you can sip Piña Coladas and Mai Tais while grooving to a soundtrack of soul and rock classics.

Groove to a night of soul music

If you want to inject a bit of soul into your Christmas party, The Wardrobe are hosting two soul music specials over the festive period. At the first, you’ll be treated to live bands, with Project Hilts, a mighty nine-piece jazz and grime fusion group, taking to the stage with Bossa nova vocalist Suéli Gil as support. The next week, funk and soul king Craig Charles will be getting behind the decks to spin a mix of party tunes and festive favourites that’ll keep you dancing until late. 

The Christmas Soul Music Specials come to The Wardrobe on Saturday 7th December 2019 and Saturday 14th December 2019.

Feast on a Dirty Santa Afternoon Tea

A fried chicken restaurant might not seem like a typical venue for a Christmas do, but Yard & Coop’s Dirty Santa Afternoon Tea is a real treat. Forget cucumber sandwiches and scones, book in here and you’ll get to gorge on three tiers of chips, chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, fried brie balls, sticky sprouts, mince pies and chocolate yule. Pair your feast with a complimentary gin goblet to wash it all down before the party really gets going in the bar area, where good tunes and great drinks will be flowing all night.

Explore a Nordic winter wonderland


You can go all out with the Christmas festivities at Hinterland, a huge pop-up winter wonderland at Leeds Dock. It’s a fully immersive Alpine experience, where you can party the night away in a Nordic forest. Grab a refreshingly cold beer from the 7-tonne sculpted ice bar or craft your perfect tipple from their specialist gin selection, then get exploring. You’ll find warming log fires, big brass bands, fire dancers, drag queens, snow drops and more across the tipi village. With live DJ’s playing until late, this is the one of the best Christmas nights out in Leeds.
