North Yorkshire Moors Railway

Looking for a wedding setting unlike any other? Well, how about a train station? Yes, you can tie the knot on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Ever since the first “I do” on Platform 2 of Pickering Station back in July 2016, lovebirds in search of a quirky wedding day have followed suit – and you could too.
The Grade-II listed station building will transport you to 1930’s Yorkshire, with its magnificent roof structure, reinstated to resemble the 19th-century original, old clocks and newspaper stands. It may be an unusual venue for a wedding but it’s filled with old-world charm. After your vows, you can enjoy drinks on the terrace and pictures on the footplate, before being whisked away on a private steam train to Grosmont. Afternoon tea and refreshments are all served onboard, so you can enjoy a finger sandwich as the panoramic vistas zoom past outside.

Fishlake Mill

A former mill turned wedding venue, Fishlake Mill is among the more unusual places to tie the knot in Yorkshire. This 18th-century corn mill in the village of Fishlake has been lovingly restored to keep all its rural character, which means you’ll get plenty of the country charm but oodles of modern comfort too.
The towering, historic windmill serves as a bridal suite and an eye-catching backdrop for the big day, with a spacious grassy knoll just behind. The quirky venue is complete with an ornamental pond and pagoda, so you can fulfil all your outdoor wedding dreams too. For the evening’s festivities, a large marquee seats up to 170 guests, along with a licensed bar, dance floor, stage and sound system – plus a solid floor and heating for when the weather has other plans. There’s even a resident peacock to top off the unusual but totally whimsical theme.

That means you’ll have free rein of the hall and its grounds, as well as 24 luxury bedrooms and two lavish suites for you and your lucky guests.
