From the brains behind Bottle Chop and Fika North comes a brand new natural wine concept!
Love wine? Love food? Then this might just be your new favourite spot. Rinse has opened up on Call Lane and is serving up tipples with a conscience and delicious deli treats that will transport you to the Mediterranean. We caught up with founder Gemma Williams to learn more.
Following on from the success of Bottle Chop in Headingley – recently named by The Times as one of the UK’s top bottle shops – Gemma and partner Elis knew there was an opportunity to bring the same ethos of sustainability and superb settings to the city centre.
“People really enjoy the concept of Bottle Chop, so much that we’ve always had our eye out for another one,” said Gemma. “And then we spotted the [Call Lane] place and I got goosebumps and was like, yeah, this is definitely the right place.”

So, what can people expect from their new Call Lane home?
Well, natural wine is the order of the day here. Produced organically and on a small scale, with no additives and 100% vegan-friendly, it’s better for the environment without compromising on quality. Gemma explained: “Natural wine is made to a much smaller scale with very little or zero intervention. Nothing is added and nothing is taken away.”
She added: “We serve a lot of wine from kegs, so part of the waste element to wine is the glass and all the printing of the labels. We do sell bottled wine but all of our wine is in kegs and the kegs are recycled, so the way they travel just costs a lot less, there’s loads less waste and there’s no chemicals – it’s just better.”
But exploring all those different vinos can be hungry work – thankfully, Rinse has you covered there too. A mico deli as well as a wine bar and bottle shop, they serve up food from 11am to 11pm. Think artisan toasted sandwiches for lunch, charcuterie and cheese boards with fresh bread from Underground Bakery, and seasonal small plates whipped up with quality ingredients sourced locally from Kirkgate Market.

Most of all, it’s the atmosphere that makes Rinse so special. From events and pop-ups to warm welcomes for your furry friends, they take the fussiness and pretentiousness out of wine drinking and invite you to go on a journey to discover your new favourite tipple. And once you have, bring in your refillable wine bottle and quaff refills to your heart’s content.
“What we always aim to do is break down barriers,” Gemma told us. “You don’t need to know anything about wine. You just need to know what you like. We always give tasters out, so because we have wine on tap, you can taste all the wines before you commit to one. It’s an experience. It’s not stuffy. We will do everything to make you feel welcome, make sure you have a really great experience and come away feeling slightly more educated about natural wines.
“Everyone’s welcome – simple as that.”
Rinse Natural Wine is on 9 Call Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 7DH and is open from 11am to 11pm on Tuesday to Sunday.
