Banyan in Horsforth has now closed, but the building won’t stay shut for long. Local legends Kirkstall Brewery have taken it over, adding to its much-loved roster of pubs that includes The Cardigan Arms and Kirkstall Bridge Inn. They’re currently giving the venue a full refurbishment to create the perfect place to enjoy a couple of pints of Three Swords or Kirkstall Pale Ale, where they will also serve a menu of classic pub grub.
The new Kirkstall Brewery Pub will open at 106-108 New Road Side, Horsforth later in 2023.
Bini Brew Co. Taproom

It’s not more than a few years since Bini Brew Co. set up shop in Ilkley, but they’ve already got exciting plans for expansion. They’ve recently taken over a 3,500-square-foot unit in Sheepscar House at the northern edge of the city centre. This is their new brewing home (the Ilkley taproom remains open), but that’s just the start for Bini. This summer will see them open a brand new taproom, which promises outside seating, street food and live music.
Bini Brew Co. Taproom will open in Sheepscar in May 2023.
Tasty by Greggs

A new Greggs might not sound like anything out the ordinary, but how about the biggest one to open in Leeds? And one that looks like none of the others? That’s right, they’re bringing their ongoing collaboration with Primark to the shop’s Leeds store. The new in-store cafe will have over 100 seats and will feature doughnut-inspired seating booths and a sausage roll swing, not to mention all of its usual tasty goods.
Tasty by Greggs will open in Trinity Leeds in Summer 2023.
We Are Padel
The Roundhouse, a landmark to the side of the road to Armley Gyratory, could have a new future as the home of a fast-rising sport. A former railway engine shed and more recently a garage and wine merchants, it’s been taken over by We Are Padel, who have put a planning application in to transform the iconic building into a hub for padel, a kind of mix between tennis and squash, with both indoor and outdoor courts.
We Are Padel plans to open at The Roundhouse, Wellington Street later in 2023.
Cantina

It was the first 100% vegan eatery in Leeds when it opened back in 2016, now Cantina is spreading its meat-free wings with a second home at Leeds University Union in April. Here, they will be debuting their brand new seitan strips recipe and a host of new menu creations, as well as showcasing an array of trusty Cantina favourites, from chick’n tenders to cauli bites, the Hashbrown Down burger to deep fried Oreos.
Cantina is opening at Leeds University Union on Thursday 27th April 2023.
