Want to enjoy cocktails with an erotic twist? The Leeds bar scene just got a whole lot sexier…

While Leeds isn’t short of late-night cocktail haunts, none of them have the same salacious attitude as the city’s newest arrival, Behind Closed Doors. It promises a charged and erotic atmosphere and it’s open right now. Let’s take a walk on the wild side.

Behind Closed Doors has been open on the other side of the Pennines since 2015, in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, building a reputation as a place where you can really let your hair down – and maybe even more. Now it’s popped up in Call Lane, and it’s ramping up the sauce factor to 11.

“It’s best described as an underground den of indulgence and debauchery,” owner Nick Parr told us, “with a mantra of sex, rugs and funk ’n’ soul. It’s the perfect place to indulge your more adventurous side, have a late-night boogie and enjoy great music and cocktails.”

It all starts with behind a secret door – you’ll need to ring a bell to gain entrance – and once you step inside you’ll be met with a 1960/70s-inspired design peppered with suggestive mannequins, vintage erotica and lighting that’s designed to inspire naughtiness.

Adult TV will be playing on wall-mounted screens while you slide into seductive booths, and the dance floor beckons once you’re suitably – ahem – lubricated. The former Wire club has been transformed into somewhere with a completely different feel.

As for those cocktails, you can start with their bestseller, the frozen Love Bite with flavours of raspberry, lemon and cucumber, or heat things up with a Chocstar Martini, an espresso martini given an indulgent blast of chocolate and then topped with whipped cream.

Head down early doors for happy hour (5-7pm), with cocktails at 2 for £13 and bottles of wine for the same price – it’s a bargainous way to kick off a wild evening. The soundtrack is all about funk, soul and disco to get your booty out of your seat and onto the dance floor.

However, you can still flirt with the finest from the comfort of every booth. There are retro phones on every table, so if you spot someone who takes your fancy, you can call them up and indulge in some charged chat. Want something more private? The Mayfair Suite can be rented for up to 25 guests.

“It’s a totally unique concept that has to be experienced to be understood,” continues Nick. “You can expect an atmosphere that you won’t find anywhere else.” Sounds like you’re going to have to leave your inhibitions at the front door.
