Ever wondered if you’d survive if the world was overrun by zombies? Of course you have! For £50 per person, you and three or more of your mates can find out at the YPOAC’s Zombie Apocalypse Training activity.
Not only can you have a go at throwing axes here, you can also learn how to throw knives at the undead horde. Take aim at the blood-thirsty zombie target and do your best to dispatch it back to where it came from. Once the scores are counted up, you’ll find out who made it through the end of the world.

Monster Adventure is a great pick for places to go axe throwing in Yorkshire. For £25 per person, you’ll get a whole hour of fun in the gorgeous setting of Stockeld Park. The instructor will make sure you know what you’re doing, then let you loose on the targets.
You can throw tomahawks as well as flying angel axes. Fancy a challenge? There are plenty of games to help you hone your skills (and beat your mates). And for another £15, you can feel like a regular Robin Hood with an hour of archery too.

If there’s anywhere that was made for hurling an axe through the air, it’s York. With their rich Viking history, it’s no wonder they have an axe throwing range – and a pretty spectacular one at that.
At The Hilt, you’ll get 20 minutes to warm up your axe-throwing arm, under the guidance of their friendly coaches, before going head-to-head to try and nail the highest score. Alternatively, you can book an interactive game session to immerse yourself in fun challenges, courtesy of ceiling-mounted projectors. If slinging axes through the air surrounded by trees sounds like the way you want to spend an afternoon, then the Bawtry Paintball Fields are waiting for you. Set in a specially designed enclosed area, you can throw knives, flying angel axes and tomahawk axes to your heart’s content.
They even do kids’ parties (as long as they’re 11 or over) where they stick to throwing flying angels. It costs £25 per person for 60 minutes (with a minimum of four people), or you can make a full day of it with a half-day paintballing session for £42 per person (with a minimum of 10 people).

Nervous about throwing axes? Yorkshire Activity Centre is the perfect place for beginners. They have a real focus on skill development here, helping you to hone your technique and land that bullseye.
You’ll start by slinging some throwing angels until you’ve mastered your throw. Once you’re feeling confident, you can graduate to the cold steel tomahawks, sharpened daily. It costs from just £20 per person for 50-60 minutes, and you’ll be throwing in a sheltered range, so the rain won’t dampen your fun.

Live for Today has a few centres in Yorkshire where you can do a whole range of different activities, including axe throwing. Whether you’re a complete newbie or a bit of a dab hand, every session will start with a thorough safety briefing, so you know exactly what to do – and what not to.
You can have a go at a whole range of throwing techniques, from one and two-handed throws to double axe throws and even backwards! They also have games to play to keep it interesting and competitive. Axe throwing sessions cost £35 per person for 60 minutes, or you can book a private session at the Swinton location for £45 per person if you want some exclusivity.

White Wolf Bushcraft School

White Wolf Bushcraft School is Huddersfield’s only knife and axe throwing centre. With five lanes, each with three targets, you can hurl axes for just £20 per person for 90 minutes (which is one of the longest axe throwing sessions in Yorkshire).
You’ll get the chance to throw knives, axes and even nails! If you get the bug, consider joining their throwing club, The Rusty Knifers. Membership is £15 a year, plus £15 per session, and you get to use the range at any time. You don’t have to be a pro, you just have to love throwing.

Kinsmen Activity Centre

Kinsmen Activity Centre is the ultimate Yorkshire outdoor activity centre, where you can practice your aim in true Viking style. On one of their axe throwing sessions, you’ll get 55 minutes to finesse your throw and hit as many bullseyes as you can.
It’s £25 per person with a minimum of two people per booking, and for that, you’ll get the chance to hurl tomahawks, medieval throwing angels and even throwing spades. Once you’ve learned the skill, you’ll face off with games and competitions – with the losers ending up with their heads in the stocks!

Valhalla Axe Throwing
Looking for an axe throwing venue in Sheffield? Valhalla it is. You’ll be given a full safety briefing before getting stuck in, but their experts will stick around to supervise and give you any tips should you need or want them.
Each lane has two targets and can be used by six people, but groups of 12 can book two lanes. More than 12? They do private hire too. You can let off some steam for 90 minutes, costing £20 per person. Anyone over the age of 16 can take part.

If you’re after a spot of axe throwing in Bradford, Axe Bey offers just that. This urban axe throwing centre is equipped with quality axes and targets, waiting to be put to good use.
You can take on your pals, partner or colleagues in a battle to be crowned the best thrower – but that’s after a chat on how to stay safe and a quick how-to to get you throwing like a pro. Sessions come in 60 and 90-minute slots and start from £17 per person. Players must be aged eight or over.

An axe throwing venue with interactive target lanes, did you say? Oh yes. Game of Throwing takes axe throwing to the next level with their Champ Throw targets at their Hull Dock Street home. But what does that mean?
Well, you’ll get the chance to put your skills to the test in a series of heat-racing games, with everything from moving targets to precision-firing tasks. You’ll get 60 minutes to prove yourself, with sessions costing £27 per person and allowing for up to six players.
