You share a lane at TimberJacks, so prices depend on how long you want to play for — pay £20 per person for 45 minutes, £25 per person for 60 minutes or £30 per person for 75 minutes. Not only can you have a go at throwing axes here, you can also learn how to throw knives at the undead horde. Take aim at the blood-thirsty zombie target and do your best to dispatch it back to where it came from. Once the scores are counted up, you’ll find out who made it through the end of the world.

BattleAxe is a viking-themed axe throwing range where you can channel your ancestral rage and bury the hatchet. Your lane will be hosted by a norseman, practiced in the art of throwing axes. They’ll help you hone your skills, so you don’t just lob it and hope for the best. BattleAxe also has an on-site shop, where you can buy all sorts of viking merchandise, including swords, tomahawks and axes. Their 70-minute sessions costs £20 per person from Monday to Thursday or £25 per person from Friday to Sunday.

Monster Adventure is one of the cheapest places to go axe throwing in Yorkshire. For just £15 per person, you’ll get a whole hour of fun in gorgeous woodland surrounds. The instructor will make sure you know what you’re doing, then let you loose on the targets. You can throw tomahawks as well as flying angel axes. Fancy a challenge? There are plenty of games to help you hone your skills (and beat your mates). And for another tenner, you can feel like a regular Robin Hood with an hour of archery too.

If there’s anywhere that was made for hurling an axe through the air, it’s York. With their rich Viking history, it’s no wonder they have an axe throwing range. And they’ve combined it with great food too, because you can get bevs and bites from the restaurant next door, Odin’s Plate. Once you’ve worked up an appetite throwing axes like a Viking or Viqueen, you can tuck into a plate of Ragnarok – fries loaded with sliced chilli sausage, cheese sauce, buffalo sauce and jalapeños. Set in a specially designed enclosed area, you can throw knives, flying angel axes and tomahawk axes to your heart’s content. They even do kids’ parties (as long as they’re 11 or over) where they stick to throwing flying angels. They’ve got several lanes, a bar serving on-theme cocktails (though it’s worth noting that you can’t be under the influence when you throw) and a kitchen serving pizzas. When it comes to axe throwing, they’ve got three different types of axe, including plastic ones that can be used by children as young as five, making this a great choice for families. You can book a 60-minute slot for £15 per person for a minimum of four people, or for 120 minutes of axe-slinging joy, book a pizza party for 10 adults for £200.

With five lanes, each with three targets, you can hurl axes for just £18 per person for 90 minutes (which is one of the longest axe throwing sessions in Yorkshire). You’ll get the chance to throw knives, axes and even nails! If you get the bug, consider joining their throwing club, The Rusty Knifers. Membership is £15 a year, plus £15 per session, and you get to use the range at any time. You don’t have to be a pro, you just have to love throwing.

There’s all manner of axes and throwing equipment to work with under the supervision of their trusted experts. The best part? It’s all indoors, so the weather won’t be a bother. Each slot lasts one hour with loads of pricing options – it’s £21.50 for one adult and one child or £28 for two adults.

Each lane has two targets and can be used by six people, but groups of 12 can book two lanes. More than 12? They do private hire too. You can let off some steam for 90 minutes, costing £20 per person. Anyone over the age of 16 can take part.

Based in the East Yorkshire, Phoenix Throwers are a group dedicated to the wonderful sports of knife, tomahawk and axe throwing. They’ve created a centre in Hull where everyone can practice their throw in a totally safe and fun environment, every Wednesday at 4pm at their Bilton range. On your first visit, you’ll learn all the rules before getting to grips with the basics. It’s £15 for your first time then £10 thereafter and £8 if you become a member. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

But what does that mean? Well, you’ll get the chance to put your skills to the test in a series of heat-racing games, with everything from moving targets to precision-firing tasks. You’ll get 60 minutes to prove yourself, with adults coming in at £25 and ages 10 to 15 costing £20 per person.
