Leeds is about to get a whole lot chicer once UNIQLO comes to town. The signage has gone up on the old House of Fraser site on Briggate, and it will be delivering around 1,100 square metres of shopping goodness. The brand, known for its high-quality staples, will be joining a line-up of retail giants on Briggate, and will be just across the street Zara, so you’ll be able to grab all your stylish essentials on the same spree.

Madre

Already a mainstay in Liverpool and Manchester, Madre is founded on the principle of sobremesa, a celebration of socialising at the table long after the last dish is cleared. This makes it ideal for enjoying long leisurely lunches or decadent dinners with loved ones. Feast on everything from Oaxacan-inspired moles and salsas to Baja-style mariscos and Sonoran grilled meats – the Madre menu is bold, playful and perfect for sharing. Plus, there’s still time to sign up for your free Margarita!
Madre will open in Wellington Place in early 2026

It will be a double whammy of fresh flavours and vibes, as Madre’s sister bar and pool hall, Salon Madre, will open just around the corner. This is a spot that turns up the vibes – and the volume. Expect tequila-fuelled nights, DJ sets, pool tables, an array of street-food favourites, and Lucha Libre on the big screens. It’s fun, unpretentious and ready-made for everything from date nights to big group get-togethers – arriba all round!

In Lamentation by Michael O’Hare
2026 will see celebrity chef Michael O’Hare back with another innovative restaurant concept. In Lamentation is set to be an intimate foray into fine dining, serving just 16 covers a night in an edgy Boston Spa venue. No details of the menu have been released yet, but if there’s anything we can expect from the man who gave Leeds its first Michelin starred eatery, it’s top quality and creativity.

Good times are set to roll into the former Wilkos store on Albion Street. Lane 7 is known for their great atmosphere and healthy dose of competitive fun, with everything from bowling and shuffleboard, to darts and pool. Not to mention the retro arcade machines, well-stocked bar and oh-so-filling food from resident eateries like Fat Hippo.

Pop Mart

Leeds Labubu lovers will be delighted to learn that Pop Mart is coming to town – no more waiting for deliveries of your favourite figures. The dealer of designer collectibles will be setting up shop next to Queen’s Arcade, providing a one-stop shop for all the plushies, miniatures and branded memorabilia you could possibly want. Their signature blind boxes, bag charms and cute candle collections make for great, unique gifts and accessories to set you apart from the crowd.

Dough Club

One for the pizza lovers to look forward to, Dough Club pizza is bringing Leeds into the fold. The Detroit-style pizza specialists are making waves all over the Pennines, with popular restaurants in Manchester and Stockport. Soon, Leeds will get a chance to dig into the Dough Club signature rectangular pies, with bases that are crunchy at the edge and fluffy in the middle. What will you be topping it with?

If you love working out in style, you’ll be happy to learn that designer activewear brand ALO Yoga is opening in Victoria Quarter. They specialise in sleek activewear and loungewear that’ll take you from studio to street without compromising on comfort. If the chic, airy interiors of their existing stores are anything to go by, the shopping experience will be just as aesthetically pleasing as the clothes!

STACK

Leeds has never had a container-style venue like the Boxparks the capital boasts, but 2026 is set to change all that. STACK, a two-storey leisure hub, will take over an outdoor area at Kirkgate Market, delivering a vibrant new space that hosts 10 street food vendors, a coffee shop and six bars. There’ll also be a central stage for live music performances and a covered plaza so you can visit all year round.

Dishoom

Dishoom will finally bring its delicious Bombay fare to Leeds! The new venture is set to be based in the former Flannels unit on Vicar Lane. Not much has been revealed yet, but if its other UK restaurants are anything to go off, we can expect indulgent black daal, tandoor lamb chops and even a bacon naan roll or two. We can’t wait to tuck in!
