Reckon you can beat your mates at pool? These are the best bars in the city to do it.

Pool is one of this country’s great pub pastimes – and Leeds is chock full of bars where you can have a game. You can play classic UK 8-ball, have a go at American 9-ball, or even try your hand at snooker. So text your mates, put a few hours aside and choose red or yellow because these are the best places to play pool in Leeds.

Roxy Ball Room

Whether you’re at their Merrion Street or Boar Lane bar, Roxy Ball Room is a great place to play a game of pool in Leeds. You can take your pick of state-of-the-art Sam K Leisure pool tables – getting a whole hour of American pool fun for £18 (or £20 on Friday and Saturday).

There’s even Crazy Pool available at the Merrion Street venue, which sees you using your cue to navigate the ball around a crazy-golf inspired table of obstacles. It’s a unique challenge that truly puts your skills to the test.

Northern Snooker Centre

The Northern Snooker Centre is one of the most renowned cue sports centres in Leeds. Over the years, they’ve welcomed everyone from Steve Davis to Ronnie O’Sullivan to play there – and you can too. They have 28 full-size snooker tables from BCE Westbury and Riley, including the 2006 World Snooker Final Table. Prefer pool? There are 15 American 9-ball tables and eight 8-ball UK tables.

Whatever you choose to play, it’ll cost between £12 to £20 an hour, with membership options available. There’s also a full bar of lager, wine and spirits, and if you get hungry, they do everything from burgers to pizzas.

Rita’s Beer Hall & Ballroom

Want your pool table with an extra dose of colour? If so, Rita’s is the place for you. It’s a fabulous setting for you to unleash your competitive spirit, with three leopard print pool tables, sleek decor and a food & drinks menu packed full of massive pizza slices and Margaritas served every which way.

The pool tables aren’t bookable and cost around £1.50 a game. But, if you get yourself down there on a Monday, you and your pals can shoot the pockets for free all day, thanks to Rita’s weekly Pool Party. Win or lose, it’s the perfect way to kick your week off.

BOX Headingley

BOX is Headingley’s go-to sports bar and it’s home to two American-style Sam K pool tables. It’s £3 for 30 minutes Sunday to Thursday and £4 on Fridays and Saturdays, but you do have to put down a £5 deposit at the bar to get your cues and balls.

There are screens in every corner, so you won’t miss the game while you play, and the bar is well-stocked with lager, craft beer and cocktails, alongside a tasty menu spanning burgers, pizzas, kebabs and salads.

Brudenell Social Club

The Brudenell is one of the best live music venues in Leeds, but it’s also a great place to play pool thanks to their kitted-out games room. They have six Supreme Winner pool tables, which only cost 50p per game, making it one of the most affordable spots in the city. They also have a single Riley snooker table which costs £5 an hour.

While you’re there, take your pick from one of the best craft beer and real ale selections in Leeds – or maybe even catch a show if you’re lucky .

Toast

Toast is a great choice for some laid-back after-work games of pool – this popular sports bar has a Supreme Winner pool table ready and waiting. It’s just £1 a go and all you have to do is ask for the cues at the bar.

While you’re there, they have real ale, world beers and cocktails behind the bar, as well as a food menu filled with delicious pizzas, burgers and sharing boards. Plus, there’s plenty of big screens showcasing all the sporting action. It’s a winner all-round!

Roxy Lanes

It’s not just bowling at Roxy Lanes – they also have two American-style Sam K Leisure pool tables ready to play. It’s £18 for as many games as you can fit into an hour, or £20 if you want to get playing on a Friday or Saturday.

While you’re there, you can play beer pong or book out one of the 10-pin bowling lanes. And if you get thirsty, they’ve got craft beer and cocktails, while everything from wings to pizza slices and Roxy hot dogs will keep you fuelled up.

East Leeds Snooker Centre

East Leeds Snooker Centre is a cue sports utopia. They’ve got 17 top-of-the-range Riley snooker tables, but if you fancy a quicker game, there are also four American pool tables and eight English pool tables, both made by Supreme Winner.

You have to be a member to play, and that’ll set you back £10 for the year, but then there are some real bargains to be had. Snooker and pool cost just £9.40 per hour, with a discounted rate of £6.90 for senior players. If you fancy a break, you can throw arrows at six dart boards or enjoy live sports on the big screens.

Parkside Tavern

Parkside Tavern is the perfect bar to play a game of pool in Leeds, boasting four 7-foot Sam Leisure tables. It’s £6 for 30 minutes of play, or £12 for an hour, with pool being free on Sundays – making it the ideal end of week treat.

You can work your way through tastes of their 18 beer beer lines while you play, or go all out with a cocktail. While there, treat yourself to something from their pizza menu to refuel after proving who’s best.
