Roxy Ball Room

Roxy is a bonafide legend of the Leeds gaming bar world and their Boar Lane home has a bit of everything. Pool sharks can show off their cue skills and ballers can shoot some hoops at the basketball net, as well as playing ping-pong, shuffleboard, and beer pong. Oh, and crazy golf too, but we’ll come to that. First up, head to the bar where you’ll find a mighty selection of craft beers and cocktails or book in for food, with a menu of pizzas, hot dogs and wings.

You can take your drinks over to the mini golf course, and you’ll soon see why it’s one of the most popular in Leeds. There are nine holes for you to master, each one more challenging than the last – they’ll have you trying (and failing) to hit in a straight line, before taking on all manner of obstacles, from wooden barriers to slopes that block you from seeing the hole. The winner is the person with the least amount of shots to putt all the holes – then it’s back into the bar to squabble over who was the best!

Location: 58 Boar Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6HW.
Budget: £8 to £10 per person.

Putt & Play at The Springs

Looking for a family-friendly mini golf centre in Leeds? Head to Putt & Play! Their first-ever UK home can be found at The Springs and the one thing you’ll discover here, is that it’s all about the teamwork. They have two different 9-hole golf courses – The Rookie is perfect for little ones, with bigger holes and bigger club heads so everyone can join in, while older or more experienced mini golfers can test their skills on The Master with its bridges and obstacles.

The big thing about Putt & Play is its tablet-based scoring system – putts are turned into points, the highest amount wins. A hole-in-one gets 1,000 points, a hole in two gets 800 and so on, while 6 or more equal 100 points. Plus, each player gets two jokers in every game – use one before your shot and you can double your score on that hole. The fun doesn’t stop at the ninth hole, though. You can try your hand at duckpin bowling and enjoy the amusements, before enjoying a bite and a drink in the diner and bar.

Location: The Springs, Century Way, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS15 8GB.
Budget: £6.25 to £9.38 for kids and £7.25 to £10.88 for adults.

We absolutely loved trying this one out – there’s no limit on how many people can play at once, so gather all your pals and prepare for mayhem. Their 9-hole course is unlike anything else we’ve ever seen, taking you from catapults and loops to conveyers and actual bicycles! Plus, they encourage you to take your drinks on to the course with you just to amp up the madness.

But it’s not just for grown-ups, kids aged 11 and older can join in the fun, and there’s plenty more to enjoy at Boom Battle Bar than just one of the best crazy golf courses in Leeds. This is gaming heaven so you can make a proper tournament out of your visit and see who comes out on top. Junkyard Golf Club

Junkyard Golf Club is one of the best loved crazy golf bars in Leeds. This is a bonkers, mashed-up world where a trio of madcap courses are fuelled by a super-cool bar. You’ll enter by the stairs into a festival of neon lights and graffiti-strewn murals before heading to the bar. Here you can get your fuel either before, during or after your round, with a medley of beer, wine and cocktails to choose from – our favourite is the vodka-heavy Fizz Pop, finished with a Fizz Wiz.

You’ve got three courses to choose from, so what will it be? Bozo is the ‘circus-fear-ground’, where creepy clowns, a carousel of fear and a hall of shattered dreams will try to block your progress. Over on Pablo, it’s a paradise poisoned, complete with pirate pigs, toxic volcanoes and cage-fighting grizzly bears. And then there’s Gary, a portal back to a 1990s scrapyard that will see you putt your way through a smashed-up Mini, a ram-raided garage and UV rave room!

Location: The Light, The Headrow, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 8TL.
Budget: £9.50 to £11 for 9 holes and £12.50 to £16.50 for unlimited rounds.
