The South Yorkshire city is rolling out the magic from Saturday 15th November 2025 with a programme of winter events perfect for families, friends and anyone looking to get in the seasonal spirit. From snapping selfies with snowmen to sipping hot chocolate at the market, there’s something for all occasions.
Here’s everything you can expect when you visit Doncaster this festive season.
Go walking with The Snowman

Doncaster will be transformed into a festive wonderland with Walking with the Snowman – a stunning trail which sees 12 interactive snowman sculptures dotted around the city. Each beautifully-crafted sculpture is designed to put a 12 Days of Christmas twist on Raymond Briggs’ beloved tale.
Pick up a map and follow the clues to find all 12, and when you find them, remember to snap your best Snowfies! Whether you’re visiting with family or exploring solo, it’s a magical way to wander the streets and discover new corners of Doncaster. Can you find all 12 snowmen before Friday 30th January 2026?

See Sam Bailey light up the city

Doncaster’s festive season kicks off with a bang on Saturday 15th November 2025. X Factor winner Sam Bailey will flip the switch, as Market Square comes to life with live music, a vintage carousel, street performers, fireworks and festive food stalls.
There’ll be a brass band playing selected pieces from The Snowman, a radio roadshow hosted by Doncaster Radio, and Father Christmas himself will be making a special appearance with his music box of festive favourites.
When? 4pm on Saturday 15th November 2025. The switch on will take place at 7:30pm.

Shop indie at the Christmas Cabins

From Saturday 6th December 2025, Clock Corner will be transformed into a hub of festive shopping. Packed with everything from handmade crafts to gifts for that special someone, it’s the perfect way to shop small this Christmas.
Grab a winter warmer, hunt for stocking fillers and soak up the cosy, festive atmosphere. Open all the way through to Christmas Eve, you’ll have plenty of time to pick up last minute gifts – all while supporting local Doncaster traders.
When? 10pm to 5pm daily and 10am to 4pm on Sundays from Saturday 6th to Wednesday 24th December 2025.

Tee off at Candy Cane Crazy Golf
Fancy getting competitive? We’ve got just the thing – Candy Cane Crazy Golf is popping up on weekends in December and then daily from Thursday 18th to Wednesday 24th December 2025. The colourful course is free to play and open to all, situated just steps away from the Christmas Cabins.
Grab your club and take on crazy challenges, aiming for that oh-so-sweet hole in one. Bring the family or challenge your other half – loser gets the hot chocolates in!

Enjoy an evening with Father Christmas

Give the kids a Christmas memory they won’t forget in a hurry with this extra-special evening with Father Christmas. Taking place at Mansion House, the hour-long show includes festive stories, singalongs and the chance to chat with Santa.
Afterwards, join Mrs Claus in the kitchen because it’s time to bake Christmas cookies! With something for children of all ages, it’s an experience that’s not to be missed. They’ll even get a present from the elves to take home.

Soak up the festive finale

After the hustle and bustle of making lists and getting your shopping done, it’s time to wind down and enjoy the more traditional side of Christmas. Taking place in Sir Nigel Gresley Square, the Festive Finale features live music, Christmas characters and a giant snow globe.
Sip mulled wine or hot chocolate and order a portion of freshly-roasted chestnuts as you gather with friends and family ahead of Christmas week. You’ll find plenty more ways to soak up the atmosphere across the city, from charming cafes to cosy pubs. It really is the most magical time of year.
