Discover an adults-only escape from the world in the form of beautiful cabins, wood-fired hot tubs and authentic Nordic sauna bathing, surrounded by 60 acres of peace and stillness.

From wood-fired hot tubs to a private woodland sauna, every inch of Hewn Yorkshire is designed with relaxation in mind.

When everyday life gets a little too much, a peaceful weekend escape can work wonders – and few places do it better than Hewn. Tucked away in the heart of North Yorkshire, it’s the ideal setting to slow down, switch off and reconnect with nature, yourself and your other half. Here are nine reasons to book a wellness weekend stay at Hewn.

You’ll stay in a peaceful quarry surrounded by woodland

Situated inside a former limestone quarry and sheltered by trees, Hewn is the epitome of ‘away from it all’. With 60 acres of land around you, the site feels completely removed from busy roads, towns and traffic. If you’re looking to escape the everyday, this is the place.

There’s no Wi-Fi at Hewn, and that’s not a bad thing. It’s an adults-only, off-the-grid stay designed to help you properly switch off – no emails, no scrolling, no noise. If you’re looking to cut down on the amount of times you pick up your phone per day, this is very much the place.

You’ll have your very own wood-fired hot tub under the stars

Every cabin at Hewn comes with its own Finnish wood-fired hot tub, which is ready to go from the minute you arrive. Whether it’s a pre-breakfast soak or a twilight dip, nothing beats the feeling of relaxing in warm water surrounded by nothing but peace and quiet.

There’s a sauna hidden in the trees

There’s more Scandi wellness too – set within the woodland, there’s a glass-fronted sauna and sundeck, looking out over majestic views. Work up a sweat and then revitalise yourself in the outdoor shower for a spot of hot and cold therapy. You can book it by the hour, and it’s available even if you’re not staying overnight.

When it comes to your cabin, there are two areas to choose from. The Quarry cabins lean into natural textures and stone, while The Foxwood has a lighter, more Scandi-inspired decor and is dog-friendly. Whichever you go for, you can expect home-from-home comforts and everything you need for a blissful stay.

It’s the perfect place to enjoy the silence

When we say it’s quiet, we mean it. The Hewn team have thought of everything to keep disruptions to a minimum, from keeping a strict 3pm to 5pm check-in period, to a zero-tolerance policy for outdoor speakers. With just the birds, the breeze and the occasional crackle of a fire, it’s ideal if you’re craving proper peace.

The views are stunning

Head out of your cabin and you’ll find a picturesque woodland path, which winds its way out of the quarry and out to a magnificent vista. The Meadow is a favourite spot for slow mornings. Bring your coffee, let your dog roam and touch the grass. On a clear day, you can see from the Cleveland Hills right across to the Pennines.

You can cook al fresco

While you’ve got a fully-equipped kitchen inside, each cabin also has its own fire pit and BBQ so you can enjoy the simple pleasure of cooking outdoors. With no one to rush you and nowhere to be, pour a glass, stick your food on the grill and settle into the long evening ahead.

It’s the perfect base for exploring Yorkshire

While you might feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, Hewn is perfectly positioned for nearby days out. The market town of Richmond is just a 15-minute drive away, along with Barnard Castle and the Bowes Museum. And if you’re after a country walk, you’ll be spoiled for choice.
