When it comes to keeping the drinks flowing, the city’s Happy Hour deals can be rather handy. But where should you go in Leeds and what can you get for your hard-earned cash? Smokin’ Bar & Kitchen
It’s a cool bar that oozes industrial-chic, but if that’s not enough to get you through the door, the Happy Hour surely will be. From 4pm to 8pm, Monday to Thursday you can get two cocktails for £10 with everything from their traditional Zombie to the rather unusual Banana & Maple Old Fashioned. That’s not all – you could sup a pint of Evolution Pilsner for £3 or get two cans of craft beer for £7.

The Botanist is famous for its cocktails, which are inspired by plants, vegetables and herbs grown in the garden – and they taste even better on a Friday when you can get almost all of their cocktails for just £4.95 between 5pm and 7pm. Not many bars in Leeds run a Happy Hour on a Friday, but Distrikt has never been afraid to go against the grain – and in this case, it means you can kick-start your weekend without bankrupting yourself. From 5pm to 10pm, you can get a pint of Guinness, Amstel or Symonds Cider for £3. Prefer spirits? Their house vodka, rum, gin and single bourbon with a mixer comes in at the same price. Then there’s wine – bag a bottle for a £11, a 250ml glass for £4 or a 175ml glass for £3. If that doesn’t suit, they also offer 2-4-1 cocktails on Thursdays until 2am.

With two floors of funk, soul, blues and jazz, Smokestack is an old favourite we’ll never get tired of, especially if they keep their Happy Hour going. From 5pm to 9pm every Friday, you can get a flight of three different G&Ts for just £6. Plus, they’ve got selected cocktails for just £7 and bite-sized whiskey cocktails for a budget-busting £1.

Be At One
Be At One is obsessed with cocktails. They have an almost overwhelming list for you to pick from, and they’re constantly adding to it. Better still, until 8pm from Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday, you can get two for the price of one, although you do have to order the same one. Delve into familiar favourites like their Pina Colada, Porn Star Martini or Sex on the Beach – then if you’re feeling adventurous, follow it with the likes of the You So Sake, bringing together plum sake, Chivas 18 year whiskey and rhubarb bitters.

From 5pm to 7pm, Sunday to Friday, Live Bar serves up a seriously diverse Happy Hour menu – and every drink on it is just £3. What a bargain! You can get beer, with a choice of Carling, Coors Light, Doom Bar and Stowford Press. Want wine? They’ve got a red, a white and a rose, as well as prosecco (you can even get a bottle for £15). And then there are spirits and mixers – choose from Bacardi Superior, Captain Morgans Spiced, Famous Grouse, Gordon’s Gin, Jack Daniel’s and Smirnoff Red.

Tuesdays just got a little bit better, because Chida Cantina’s Happy Hour is guaranteed to brighten up your day. Not only can you get 10 tacos for £10, but they’ve also reduced their famous margaritas down to a fiver. And if you want a little bit of both worlds, you can get a beer and two tacos for £5. Their Happy Hour runs right up until close, but get there early to make the most of the food.

Water Lane Boathouse
A waterfront bar from the guys behind Belgrave and Headrow House, it’s no wonder Water Lane Boathouse has become an instant sensation – but you might want to time your visit carefully, because their Happy Hour is too good to miss. It’s available all day Sunday and Monday, then after 8pm from Tuesday to Thursday. Buy one Water Lane G&T and you can get a second for £1 – it’s a double and it comes in a goblet. The same offer applies to pizzas on Sundays too, so get stuck in.

It may be a big chain, but Las Iguanas have one of the most famous Happy Hours in the city, giving you a chance to bag 2-4-1 cocktails all day every day. Inspired by Latin America, their cocktail menu offers everything from the Strawberry Caipirinha to the Pina Colada, Vanilla Mai Tai and Huana Party. They also offer 2-4-1 pitchers, with their Zombie Skull and Alpaca Punch Party Bowl both up for grabs. You need to get the same two cocktails to get the deal. Want beer? You can get a bucket of four Brahma or Corona for £12, with four pints of Brahma for just £15.

Head to the corner of Call Lane to make the most of Revolución de Cuba’s Happy Hour deals. The Leeds bar serves up a slew of bargains from 3pm until 7pm Monday to Friday and 5pm to 7pm on Saturdays. Mix and match 2-4-1 cocktails or enjoy Mahou lager for £3 and cocktail teapots for £12. What’s not to love?

Whether you’re watching the rugby, the footy or the boxing, Shooters will make sure you never miss a minute of the action – and if you time it right, you can get a mighty good deal on your drinks too. Their Happy Hour runs from 12pm to 8pm, Monday to Friday and you can get a huge range of bottled beers for just £2, as well as El Pico wines for £8.95 a bottle and jam jar cocktails for £3. Want to keep it simple? Spirits and mixers are just £2.50.

Outlaws Yacht Club
As always, Outlaws do things a little bit differently. Their Happy Hour hits the morning after the night before, with a Sunday 2-4-1 deal on their famous Bloody Marys. It’s the perfect way to cure your hangover and ease your way into the day, so roll out of bed late and get yourself down there for a Sunday to remember (depending on how many you have). If you can’t face it on Sunday, try their Wednesday cocktail sessions, with 2-4-1 concoctions all day or drop by between 5pm and 8pm every day of the week to enjoy a house spirit and mixer, medium glass of house wine or a pint of Freedom lager for just £3.30.

With a huge beer garden and a prominent location on City Square, Banyan is a popular choice with the after-work crowd – and it’s no wonder. For a taste of the Caribbean, look no further than Turtle Bay at The Light. They have a vibrant menu of jerk pit BBQ and curries, but that’s not all. Blind Tyger is a pre-prohibition cocktail bar with a reputation for making some of the best cocktails in Leeds, and there’s no better time to go than Fridays. Their Happy Hour brings a selection of three exclusive punchbowl cocktails served in a bathtub. They’re designed for sharing, with enough liquor for four people all for just £25.

Manahatta offers an eclectic menu during the day and a vibrant atmosphere at night. But it’s even better when you make the most of their Happy Hour offers. They’re different for each bar. Greek Street’s deal runs from 4pm to 7pm Sunday to Thursday. Merrion Street, however, puts it on all day Sunday to Wednesday, from 5pm to 9pm on Thursday and Friday, then from 4pm to 7pm on Saturday. It gives you two cocktails for £10, with a menu of inspired favourites like the Plum Paloma, Gin Cobbler and Manahatta Godfather. Prefer prosecco? You can get a bottle for just £20.

Lazy Lounge runs its Happy Hour from 4pm to 8pm, Monday to Friday – and as you can imagine, it’s rather popular. The wine-obsessed bar offers a glass of house vino for £3 and a glass of prosecco for £3.50, but you can also get a pint of Aspall cider for £3, a Kozel lager for £2.50 or a bottle of Peroni Red for £2.

The latest opening from the people behind Friends of Ham, Lucky Number 7 is an American-style sports bar playing all the latest action. It’s got shuffleboards and darts to keep you entertained, while you make the most of their Happy Hour. From 5pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday, all their house pours and spirits are 2-4-1, including Flensburger Pilsner, Schofferhofer and Hogans Cider.
