With a whole raft of masterclasses for you to choose from in Leeds, now’s the time to do it. The Alchemist
You can get involved with the cocktail sorcery on show at The Alchemist. Their cocktail masterclass is one of the best in Leeds as you get to grips with their experimental concoctions. Available for groups of six to twelve, two different packages – Light and Dreamy or Chemistry and Theatre – are available for £35. The latter sees you enjoy their iconic Colour Changing One on arrival, before you grab your shaker and show off your skills by mixing up two incredible cocktails – a gin-based Pop Notch and the rum-tastic Lava Lamp.

Revolution
It doesn’t matter which of the two Revolution bars in Leeds you’re at, you’re guaranteed a cocktail masterclass to remember. Starting from £25 per person with extras including food available, you can choose from an At Table class, designed for four to six people, or a full Masterclass for groups of eight or more. The former sees your very own personal bartender wow you at your seat as you get to make a series of fun, tasty tipples followed by a pizza or burger each, while the latter promises 90 minutes of sipping in your own reserved area.

You can make potent potions just like the good ol’ days at The Maven. Their high-end cocktail masterclasses take place in their throwback of a bar, hidden above Call Lane behind an unmarked door. Once you’re inside, you’ll get the full works from their stylish mixologists who’ll introduce you to the principles of cocktail making before you get hands-on. From £35 per person, the power is put in your hands as they allow you to choose the cocktails you want to make, whether it’s a classy French 75 or a classic Old Fashioned.

Smokestack
Smokestack’s cocktail experience lets you and your group rule the roost – it’s £35 a head, for groups of between six and 14 people. Their two-hour workshop sees one of their expert bartenders take you and your party on a guided tour of all you need to know about cocktails – just tell them which three you want to learn and you’ll be on your way. Choose from delights like French Martinis, Whiskey Sours, Brambles, Cosmopolitans, Piña Coladas and more, before enjoying a 20% discount in the bar all night.

Revolución de Cuba
Call Lane’s slice of Latin America, Revolución de Cuba is the go-to spot for rum-monkeys wanting their fix of a Havana-themed evening – centred around, you guessed it, rum. It’s a homage to their national drink, so for £30, their resident Cantineros will train you in the art of Mojitos, Daiquiris, and Cuba Libres complete with nachos, games and loads of fun. You can also opt in for tapas, buffets and set menus to keep your stomachs lined, for a few extra bob, of course.

Blind Tyger
You’re in for two hours of alcohol-fuelled creativity at Blind Tyger. You have complete control of your experience, and you’ll work your way through three of your favourites as part of the DIY session which acts as a crash course into the world of mixology. For £35 a head, you and six to 14 guests can visit old classics and discover new favourites as you choose three cocktails to master – will you journey with juniper with the gin-based Bramble or wander through whiskey with their sour?

Mojo
Famous Leeds rock bar Mojo promises ‘Good Times’ with their cocktail masterclass package. These fun-filled sessions last two hours and cover cocktail mixing and sampling. You’ll learn how to shake up their legendary cocktails with one of their expert bartenders, as well as picking up some of the secrets of the trade. There’s even a touch of competitiveness thrown in for good measure with cocktail-making competitions and loads of games. You can knock back up to four drinks for £40 per person, with food a little extra.

One of the best bars in Leeds for cocktail masterclasses is The Mixologist in Harvey Nichols. Hosted by their resident cocktail shakers and stirrers, you can look forward to a fun, interactive session which is focussed around a different theme every time. You’ll quickly move on to a spirit tasting and a detailed exploration of cocktail base components, before you try your hand at making, shaking and tasting three signature cocktails as well as one brand new one of your own making. You have two options when it comes to cocktail-making classes at Greek Street staple All Bar One. Their Classic Cocktail Masterclass will see you get to grips with three of your favourite cocktails for £35 per person – you can pore over their menu ahead of your visit and choose your trio of treats to stick your twist on. Want a little more? You can get Bellinis all round on your arrival to the session for an extra £5 a head – choose from white peach, mango, strawberry or raspberry for the perfect class kick off.
