Whitelock’s is one of the oldest pubs in Leeds and it offers a pre theatre dinner exclusively for Leeds Grand Theatre and Opera North ticket holders. You’ll have to book in advance and show a valid ticket when you’re there, but your reward is two courses for only £23 or three courses for £29 – it’s an absolute steal!
You could be tucking into cauliflower cheese croquettes or pig cheek terrine to start, beer-battered haddock and chips or the famous Whitelock’s Burger for your main, and a hunk of sticky toffee pudding with a dollop of Northern Bloc ice cream to finish. You won’t be needing those theatre snacks after all.

Kendells Bistro

Kendells’ French bistro-style restaurant has a tea-time set menu perfect for a romantic pre theatre dinner in Leeds. You’ve got a choice of soups, tarts and seafood for your starter (the French onion soup is a real winner) and a selection of classic Gallic dishes for your main.
It could be a slow braised ham hock accompaied by basil broth, white beans and creamed potatoes or a roast rump of beef complete with chips, crispy onions and pepper sauce. Dessert? Line your belly with delights like focaccia & marinated mixed olives, brie arancini with pear and walnut chutney or honey glazed carrots with mint salsa and pistachios – yum. The pasta dishes take you from a radiatori with tomato and basil and rigatoni with confit duck ragu to msio fettuccine with garlic mushrooms and spinach.
