The ancient practice of yoga remains as popular as ever. Bringing together a wealth of physical and mental benefits, it’s a fantastic way to burn calories and tone up, while improving your overall wellbeing. It’s tougher than it looks though. Expect a full-body workout combined with deep breathing and meditation. Here’s where you can practise yoga in Leeds.

This independent studio in Chapel Allerton is a local favourite. Yoga Kula helps people find balance in an increasingly chaotic world, and a class here truly does help you to find a sense of calm.

Looking for a welcoming and down to earth yoga studio? Look no further than The Yoga House. This cosy studio in East Leeds offers a range of classes for all abilities, from the supportive beginners class with its focus on breathing, meditation and poses, to the fast-paced power flow classes, for people seeking an invigorating challenge.

The Yoga House is founded by Freya Shaw, who witnessed first-hand the benefit yoga had on a family member suffering from chronic pain and now helps share those benefits with others. Freya even runs yoga classes specially for people living with cancer.

Om Yoga Works is a friendly yoga studio situated in an old Leeds mill. Providing a supportive environment in which beginners and experienced yogis alike can prosper, there’s a focus on helping people awaken their inner potential and find their true self.

Shadwell Studio is a boutique yoga studio, offering a huge variety of classes across a range of yoga styles. There’s everything from hot yoga and Vinyasa to Nidra and Ashtanga. On top of yoga, they also offer pilates, which helps to strengthen and shape your body and are suitable for all abilities.

Anahata Yoga is an inclusive yoga studio based within Sunny Bank Mills. Founded by Farsley resident Sarah McLaughlin, Anahata is a space for everyone to come and enjoy the benefits of yoga – from complete beginners to the more experienced, through to expectant mothers, new parents, babies and children.

Try your hand at everything from energising Vinyasa Flow to high tempo HIIT yoga, then ease off afterwards with a massage or some guided meditation.

There’s plenty on offer for new and expectant mums and babies too, offering a seamless transition from pre to postnatal yoga. What’s more, you’ll find We Are Wellness within an 18th-century mansion up in Headingley, making it one of the most scenic yoga studios in Leeds.
