Say hello to Woodside, Leeds’ newest neighbourhood bar and eatery from the team behind The Brunswick.
With 2024 marking nine years since The Brunswick opened its doors, it was only right that its owners wanted to embark on an exciting new venture. You’ll find Woodside right on the edge of the city centre, just at the bottom of the Gateway North apartment building on Crown Point Road.
“It was back in 2022 when we first viewed the unit”, Director Samuel Haworth told us. “It’s in an area of Leeds that’s constantly developing, so we’ve spent a good long while thinking about what the space needs to offer for the things around it, so we settled on creating something that’s a bit of a neighbourhood hub in the middle of Gateway and for everything around it.”
With East Street Mills, Robert’s Wharf, Citu, Saxton and the Gateway all proving ever-popular places to live in the city, it’s becoming increasingly clear that they don’t have their own dedicated neighbourhood bar or eatery to gather in, be it a place to hunker down to get some work done or somewhere to tuck into a roast. That’s all set to change when Woodside opens its doors, though.

The building itself is quite industrial, so it’s taken some work for the team to warm it out. To balance out the concrete furnishings, there are many earthy tones, from the green tiled bar to the lovely wooden flooring. Wooden panels clad the walls, and if you look up to the ceiling you’ll spot exposed bulb lighting.
And to drink? Well, nothing’s been confirmed yet, but rest assured similar to The Brunswick there’ll be a large variety of tipples. You’ll have your mainstays that punters will always recognise, but there’ll also be a revolving, specialist offering as the team works with different wine distributors and breweries.

They’re also perfecting their coffee offering, so during the day you can grab the perfect cup of Joe from roasters Elsewhere Coffee. Woodside are proud to be the first venue in Leeds to have Elsewhere exclusively pouring after they’ve made a big splash in London. Get ready for some flaky, buttery patisserie, too.
If you’re a foodie, you’re in luck, because Woodside boasts a huge kitchen and they’re looking to install a huge chest smoker. Friday and Saturday mornings, they’ll cook up a mean brunch, with everything from smoked pork belly with folded eggs to fried mushrooms with a scotch bonnet maple sauce up for grabs.

It’s the Sunday roast that we’re most excited for, though – if it’s from the owners behind The Brunswick, you know it’s going to be downright delicious. From 12pm every week, you can expect to see beef rump cap, smoked pork belly, cheesy leeks, smoked mash and more. Our mouths are watering already!
“We’re not necessarily trying to reinvent the wheel”, Samuel told us. “We just want to create a space that people can get some enjoyment out of and a place they can put their own stamp on.” This is set to be a vibrant exciting new addition to the Crown Point area, and we can’t wait to see what they achieve.
