Yorkshire’s premier airport has expanded with a brand new terminal designed to upgrade the passenger experience.
This week marks the opening of Leeds Bradford Airport’s brand new terminal expansion.
Construction work on the site first broke ground in spring last year, promising an upgrade that reinforces the airport’s commitment to sustainability and makes travelling through Yorkshire’s busiest airport a seamless experience.
Now the work is done and we were lucky enough to get an early sneak peak of the extended terminal, which features a comfy new departure lounge that increases the airport’s seating capacity by 83%. They’ve also revamped the baggage reclaim and passport control areas with cutting-edge security technology to ensure a smoother and safer journey for all passengers.
Other highlights of the terminal expansion include panoramic views of the runway (the perfect backdrop for pre-flight selfies) and new food, drink and retail spots to keep holiday-makers entertained before take-off.

Travellers looking for an added touch of pre-flight relaxation can enjoy the new Avro and Six Eight One lounges. Avro is designed to combine relaxation and productivity, with dedicated workspaces where you can peacefully get those last-minute emails off before you board a flight for your business trip.
Six Eight One provides a slightly more luxurious environment, complete with complimentary drinks and a well-stocked buffet of hot and cold food, enhancing journeys for leisure travellers who value exclusivity.
In celebration of the expansion, the airport has also teamed up with top cocktail bar, Tabula Rasa, to design a new cocktail, the ‘Yorkshire lass’ which is only available in the Six Eight One Lounge.
The expansion project is part of wider regeneration plans for the airport which include a refurbishment of the airport’s original terminal planned for completion in 2026.
