Say hello to Brewery Wharf Tavern, the riverside pub Leeds has been waiting for.

Mainstays of the Leeds pub scene, the team behind Whitelock’s have been providing the city with top-class drinking holes for over a decade. From The Turks Head and Whitelock’s to Meanwood Tavern and White Cloth Hall, each of their venues offers guests something unique, and Brewery Wharf Tavern is no exception.

Opening on Friday 29th August 2025, the new pub sits right on the River Aire, in the vibrant, ever-evolving community of Leeds’ South Bank. Whitelock’s Marketing & Community Manager Adam Warner describes it as “a modern pub concept.” He says the drive behind Brewery Wharf Tavern is similar to that of Meanwood Tavern, to bring a community-conscious and family-friendly atmosphere to a growing city centre neighbourhood.

Adam and his team wanted to offer the businesses and residents in the area “something they don’t currently have.” A social, riverside space that caters to a range of tastes. As such, Brewery Wharf Tavern is designed with gathering in mind, whether that’s post-work wines, or Saturday afternoon ales.

The interior is open and airy, with seating to accommodate big and small groups alike. Outside on the terrace, you can enjoy panoramic views of the river in comfort, and with your tipple of choice in hand.

In true Whitelock’s style, the drinks menu will stock only the créme de la créme: “We work to champion the best of local suppliers,” says Adam, naming local favourites like Kirkstall, Northern Monk and Anthology amongst the breweries on tap.

Food wise, the kitchen is still a few weeks from opening but Adam revealed that “There’ll be a pizza kitchen as opposed to a more traditional pub menu.” The universal appeal of pizza and the “timeless, classic” practice of pairing it with beer, cements Brewery Wharf Tavern as a pub for everyone – stylish, welcoming and entirely unpretentious.

Adam emphasised that “community vibes are at the forefront, so there’ll be quiz nights, bingo nights and other events aimed at serving the community.” Its opening week is kicking off with an exclusive soft opening for local businesses and residents on Wednesday 27th August 2025, ahead of the family, friends and press evening the following day.

Come Friday, the doors will open for everyone and you’ll be able to enjoy the amazing new space yourself. If you sign up to the Brewery Wharf Tavern mailing list in time and you’ll receive a drink voucher on entry – riverside reverie never felt so good!
